I just got a 2005 Honda CBR600F4i, and when the ignition is "On",
and then I set the engine stop switch to "Run", I hear this odd noise, sounds
like a small electrical motor... does anybody know what this is?

Note, it only happens when I set the engine stop swith to "Run", not when I turn it "On" with the key, or when I actually start it up with the start button.

Any clues on where to look, I would appriciate it. I've gone through the tiny owner's manual, and found nothing (maybe I'm blind ;) ). I haven't yet picked up the Honda Service Manual yet, but its probably in there.

Thanks.

Fuel pump eh.. cool, thanks.

I'm not a total noob, my last bike was a 1987 Honda CBR600 F-H (Hurricane)
which I've just parted out because I found a crack in the frame.
My garage is now full of parts, and my new bike.

The old fuel pump didn't make that noise! :)
(But of course, it's almost twenty years old.....)

The old fuel pump didn't make that noise! :)...(But of course, it's almost twenty years old.....)Being almost 20 years old, the old bike wasn't fuel injected, no initial priming required, thus no initial fuel pump noise. Welcome to the 21st century. :D
