Hello folks,

I am looking to go on a ~150 mile ride on Friday. Leave around 10-11 AM and aim to be back around 4-5 PM. Here is the route I have in mind, but I am completely open to suggestions:

70 West past Golden
40 West / North to Berthoud Falls
Berthoud Falls to Winter Park via Berthound Pass
34 East to Lake Granby / Grand Lake
Return

I am not suggesting that I will "lead" this ride. I will be going anyway and would love the company in case anyone would like to join.

I am also a newbie to the area, so if anyone has any feedback on road conditions, cops, towns to avoid, etc. I would really appreciate it.

Don't speed through Empire (at the turn-off to Berthoud Pass). It's always got a speed trap.

I'm open to that. Except Estes tends to get clogged up with tourists.

I did that route two weekends ago, it wasn't bad at all. Usually not too many cars on 7, and if it's not a huge group there's plenty of places to pass if need be

I am in the DTC area and will be taking 25N up to 70W. I can meet anywhere along the way.

How about 7 AM? Weather is supposed to be good so it should warm up by the time we get to 40W.

FYI...
I haven't done berthoud pass this year, but the pavement condition near the top, (especially north side) was almost as drive-able as the surface of the friggin' moon last year. If it hasn't been repaired, expect lots of heaves and potholes.

Just sayin, be careful.
