Its time for a rematch!! so this is an open invite to anyone that would like to join i have a trailer that will fit 10 bikes. for 10 of us all pick up the gas charges for the trip out and back.
this will be a ride to die for!!

the plan at this point is to head to tail of the dragon summer 2012 will be about a week trip its about 20hr drive going to get there and then spend around 4 to 5 days running tail of the dragon if you have never been on this road it is wicked crazy. dont have the date planned yet would like to see who would be on board for this.

so here is the break down 318 curves in 11miles it is one of my fav's next to isle of man!
so by the end of Jan. i would like to have a list of the people that want to go then by the end of Feb we will set a date to leave denver would like to do this in Apr maybe first part of May.

let me know what you think

here is some info on the road

Been there...done that :) Sounds like a sweet offer you're throwing out there. If I were in CO I'd do my best to make the trip. There are a lot of fun roads out there to ride, not just the Dragon.

It's funny, I went down there in the same sorta way. Guys I never really met posted up. We all chipped in on gas, food, and lodging and had a hell of a time. Good people, good roads, and beer. Doesn't get much better.

I was going thru one of the switchbacks and a oncoming car gave me the semi arm pump sign. I was like "what?" and he was on me, sneaked thru a 4 ft gap.

Not an 18 wheeler but I had a big ass tow truck almost take me out. I think McVahhh and Sortarican have it on video somewhere. Shit was pretty hairy for a quick second.

As Keyser noted this does bring back memories from years ago. Lots of good times from those Gap trips and lots of lessons learned.

This sounds like a good plan but I would caution about having a huge group of mismatched skills. If you want to run some of the other routes out there you will need to set up some kind of leader/sweeper system.

As far as the increased patrolling of the gap, it is a pretty big misconception. The area is fairly consistently patrolled but you just have to use some common sense and pick your time. Keep that in mind and you will be fine.

April/May is the best time due to several factors so stick with that timing.

Interesting thread so I will keep an eye on it.

:)

I've been to The Dragon years ago, it was much closer when I was living in Alabama.

I've no idea what I'll be doing in May, but if I'm free I might be down for this. I'd just need trailer space, I'd either fly out or drive out so my ass isn't taking up van space.

LMK when we've got solid dates, and pending my job and funds situation I might be in.

(Though the fear is that this has "Giant Cluster Fuck" written all over it--as most mass group rides/mass CSC rides do)

Yeah, but many/most drop out beforehand or last minute, as of course funds, jobs, plans, etc. do come up.

Good chance I'll be in Russia towards the end of April but depending on the days/plans I'd definitely be in for The Dragon.

<---Jealous

Did the trip almost two years ago, epic road, only wish we woulda had more time there.

Best way to do it is during the week, we didn't see any cops while we were there, I've heard it's very busy with both cops and bikes/cars on weekends.

Don't forget to do a night-run.
