I just noticed a thread in the Giving to Others section, so I thought I'd post the info here, too.

In COS, we have a CSC (Citizen Soldier Connection). They engage the local community to connect with the troops on Ft Carson.
CSC encourages soldiers and citizens to sign up to get together for Thanksgiving here: http://www.citizensoldierconnection.org/

Also, if you want to donate food, usually any church has at least one food drive. But you can also give to the local soup kitchen, Marion House. They are looking for turkeys. They are a Catholic Charity, but are feeding anyone in need of a meal. They also give out hygiene products: http://www.ccharitiescs.org/

You might also want to check with your employer. Some have a matching policy for giving to others.

I hope you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving time.

Thanks for the good information, Rabea.

(is this what you'll be doing for T-day?)

Thanks for asking. I'm having folks over for Thanksgiving. I am in need of a table (possibly fold up) and extra chairs, in case anyone has one/can spare one.

I think I will donate a turkey to the Marian House. Usually they have enough volunteers between Thanksgiving and X-Mas, but they are low on turkeys and so are other food banks this year, I heard. I assume it has to do with the economy. Make sure to call them ahead.
They really need volunteers for the rest of the year though.
