Sorry to hear about your loss though.

Sorry to hear about your loss though. Cool; I like them! I had never heard of the breed Presa Canario so been reading about them. Sound just like my type of dog. if you don't mind me asking are they really expensive?

Ya the breed is not for everyone but I've raised and worked with some pretty great dogs and have been interested in the Presa for a while. Redstar Kennels Produces some incredible working dogs. They breed for function over form which is what I wanted. And yes like all pure breds they are expensive. Could have bought a set of Marchisinis with the money I spent on Rossi.

Check out this video. Not any one I know but a great looking pair of dogs.

I'm sure we could start a whole thread about this but it comes down to personal preference. The breed standard is to crop the ears and I wanted him to look the part. I understand the AKC doesn't require it and it's even banned in Europe, blah, blah, blah. It's cosmetic surgery, like a nose job, boob job, lipo whatever. It comes down to just personal preference, I like the cropped ears.

I am digging this dog! For some reason reminds me of a mix of my three favorite breeds; English Bulldog, Pit Bull, and Mastiff. Colors are great too, but makes me miss my brindgle English Bulldog, Indy, that passed away a few months ago,

Sounds like someone is a little on edge and butt hurt because they don't have a motorcycle eh?

Was just a question on his personal preference not a "how could you do that to your dog question" don't read too far into it and take it personal holmes.

^^ I was curious as well... not from some moral front, but from a "I've never owned a dog w/ cropped anything" mindset and was curious.

Is there no argument to be made that cropping the ears can help stave off possible ear infections or similar issues? I dont know anything about it, but Ive heard an owner or two make this claim saying that if you leave the ears "floppy" they create a full "cover" over the ear and can increase the chance of dust, bugs, etc getting caught in there.

The original reason for cropping ears was for fighting dogs. 100 years ago when it was a legitimate sport to have dog fights, bull baiting, dogs fighting a bear or wild boar etc. It was done so the ears couldn't be bitten, Rotts were used to heard cattle so there tails were docked so that didnt get stepped on. Then it became tradition, now it's just preference.

Don't forget Australian Sheppard's as well they are used for herding sheep and have their tails docked at birth. I understand the purpose just curious as to why you chose to do so at least you understand why people do it rather than just doing it to do it.

still a good lookin pup.
