Simple rules. Post the earliest known photo you have of you on a motorcycle and the story behind it.

This is me at 4 years old (1985) with my grandfather. I inherited my love of motorcycles from him and some of my best childhood memories are riding to the Shriner parades in Lamar and Alamosa. He only stopped riding a few years ago for health reasons (he'll turn 80 this year). My younger cousin Don got the same treatment as a kid and rides a Harley, but I don't hold that against him.

My dad and I are the only ones in our whole family that ride, he called it quits back in 86' when he almost died in a wreck a year before I was born so unfortunately no pictures of me on one. Didnt come to own my first bike till 18 (03' VFR800).

Ah the good old days.

This is the earliest photo I could find and I think it was around 1969 or so. I did start riding at age 4 on a Cushman scooter that was WAY too big for me :eyebrows: But what the heck. My brother would put me on it and give me a push, I would ride around the block and then he would come out and catch me when I got back.

I used to ride with my dad on the back of his custom built trike. That started when I was six or so. Sadly I dont have any pics but I wish I did. He had to sell the trike when I was ten but if I could find it I sell everything I own to get it back.

Around 1974 at a race in OK at a track named Blood, Sweat and Gears. I have earlier ones but will have to scan them at work next week.

Nice! I lived in Lawton, OK from 93-95 next to Fort Sill. They had a dirt track for training and in a pre 9/11 world kids like myself could ride our bikes onto base and use the track.

I had a 71 Yamaha Mini-Enduro 60cc MX model from ages 9-12, a 1972 Kawasaki G5 100cc enduro after that, my dad rode a 72 Kawasaki F7 175cc enduro. We used to ride at the track near Amber, OK. I think it was Amber Valley or something like that. Most of our riding was trail riding around Lake Stanley Draper, some around NW 10th & Council before the houses went in and what is now Stinchcomb Wildlife refuge where NW 50th ends at the North Canadian River before it dumps into Lake Overholser. Snowman rode the 100 some and I rode my dad's 175 trail riding. We rode some at Fort Sill as well in the mid-70's. My mother has all my childhood motorcycle pics, I need to scan them in when we are going through OKC on the final move from Austin next month.

This was taken about '82-'83 time frame. Mom, Dad, my older brother, and me poking out of the side car. Dad had to get this after the local sheriff pulled us over riding 4 deep on a '66 Elecraglide... Dad still has the '66!

That looks like a Yamaha from the red stripe on the tank.....

A full-face helmet, those were heavy and expensive back then. I had a red, silver and blue metal flake open face helmet with lightning bolts and stars on it (it was the early 70's). The first full face that I remember trying out was Snowman's Bell in the early 80's, it was real hot in Oklahoma summers as there was no such thing as venting on them back then, of course they were quiet because of that. I might see if my sister can scan in my old pics at my parents house to get them up here, then you can see the helmet in all it's glory.

Didn't you get the Bell not too long after that.

I know of a silver 900F sitting outside a duplex in Austin, I have never seen it running though, always parked in the same spot.

It's the very first model YZ125. Right after I got it, the Honda Elsinore six speed came out. It was quite better than my YZ. Helmet is an old Bell Star, I think.
