So here I am at GCC cement plant in pueblo on my iPhone I'm waiting for these guys to bring me a torch so I can take these couplings off and im bored so. I'll be in shitty pueblo all week most likely working from 7am till god knows when but if anyone is in pueblo that wants to grab some grub one of these days or whatever let me know. Or if anyone wants me to take some snapshots of the local meth heads I can do that, didn't see too many on my way in this morning as it was pretty cold but they are out there.

1201 South Santa Fe Avenue, Pueblo, CO

It's on the corner of Santa Fe and Mesa.

I also recommend ordering a fresh pizza; sometimes they have a buffet, but it never seemed to taste as good.

Yea if you are standing behind a wall where the wind isn't kicking your ass.

The plant is open to allow the wind to pass through so im constantly battling that and I'm handling steel parts and my tools so my hands freeze up immediately. This hour in my truck (my lunch break) is like heaven.

Just out of pure curiosity what do you do for a living that you are stuck in Pueblo for a week at a cement plant?

I work on AC and DC electric motors and gearboxes for major manufacturing facilities. This cement Plant is on a 1 month outage to overhaul all Of its equipment. Down here I am working on 8 gear boxes that are bigger than trucks and my hours are from 6am to 6pm so it's easier to stay here rather than drive 4 hours.

Mdub I was thinking of mounting my gopro on my hardhat but not sure if the plant will let me.

I took a bunch of pics yesterday had to go to the top of the raw material elevator bucket tower about 385 feet high I'll post em tonight when I get back home.

This week I'm inspecting the large units so I'm able to work from 7 to 4 but what sucks is I'm driving 4 hours every day leave at 5am to get to pueblo at 7 then leave pueblo at 4 to get home at 6.

Ok descriptions will have to be another day I'm too damn tired and I have to be up at 4:30am

However here is the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpMkfGhdrhE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

This video is at the top of the raw material silo/dome where the material is gathered and stored to be mixed with the finished product to make concrete. It's very very fine and as you can see in the video it's freaking everywhere. It's next to impossible to not get it into your eyes and mouth because once its brushed into the air it hangs around for awhile before settling.

I think elevators at industrial sites are probably the most unreliable thing ever. I remember being at a plant in TX where the elevator broke down so often, they had someone to sit in it and use a paintbrush to keep dirt and debris out of the door track so it could continue operating. Every stop they were down there brushing out the door track. Worked, but what a shitty job.

Yea he was actually just joking there is no elevator for those silo's. The only elevator GCC has is to go to the top of the bucket elevator which is 385 feet up. Which coincidentally is where i will be working all day tomorrow as i found a gearbox that needs repair work to be done on it.

Well kids I am going to be at what they call "the top of world" which is the top of the bucket elevator for the raw mill working on the gearbox that sits 385 feet in the air. All day tomorrow so my question to you is are there any special requests while I'm up that high?
