I had an 07 which is just about the same and it was a great bike. If the bike is in as good of shape as he/she says then doesnt sound like a bad deal... All in all its on your personal preference on the style and how it rides cause it's a completely different bike compared to the R6 ride position wise since it's wider. The gixxer is slimmer and more short person friendly.

They're comfortable to ride for sure, at least for me being 5'6. My friend rode it couple times being 6'4 and he looked pretty ridiculous.... just also check with your insurance company if your rates will change due to the fact that the gixxer is the most wrecked and stolen type bikes so just food for thought

+1 on this. If my R1 wouldve been totalled I so would've bought one. Rode my best friend's 06 675 this past weekend and a total blast

Good info, didn't know that. Would that be true of the liter bikes too (Gix1k/Ninja10R vs. R1)?

Yes sir, the bigger the cc's the more $$$ it is. Of course other factors such as driving record, credit score, MSF class and being 25 or over can affect that too.

Yeah bigger I'd figure, but I mean manufacturer-wise on same-CC bikes. Are the Gixxers in general higher insurance than an R1 (because of thefts, etc.), liter vs. liter? I'm gonna call my StateFarm agent tomorrow and break it down, just curious before I get into a bigger bike. I'll report back...

From what I understand gixxers are usually a bit higher on insurance no matter the cc but I've also heard of people getting better rates on those than R1's and such. It all depends on the insurance company too I guess.... Hey are you the same Ghosty from CRN?

Shouldn't be. All my bikes are thru State Farm, they price by CC's

For Allstate at least they considered my R1 a standard motorcycle and insurance was like $400 a year for a brand new bike. The GSXR 1k was $1600.
