I know a lot of you are dog lovers so I thought I'd throw out some props for the mighty Pekingese who won best in show at the Westminster Dog Show, Malachy:

I thought this thread was going to be about a ticket or run-in with cops in Westy. I don't like hyper-yappers or ankle-biters either unless they're well-behaved. Some little dogs are cool though:

We had a shithead... err... I mean Shih-tzu when I was in high school. That dog was awful. I swore off small dogs until my parents got the pugs. Those are amazing small dogs. A lot of fun, rough and tumble, overall amazing small dogs.

When my lab goes, and if I decide to get another dog, it would probably be a pug.

If I ever stop moving around, it's an all black GS for me. An old member on here sold me on German Shepherds. Wanted one since then.

I'm the same way. Pekes aren't yappers like a lot of small dogs. If you just heard Jupiter's bark without seeing him, you'd think it was a dog five times his size. And he thinks that way too. I've laughed watching him pin a Boxer and a Golden Retriever on the corner of the front deck, letting them know that they were on his property. The funny thing is that when we go to the dog park, he doesn't bother any of the other dogs unless they annoy him, and then they get the message, no matter how big they are. I've had dogs almost all my life and he is the greatest buddy of all of them.

Nice, definitely good to have a dog that compliment the house and all. What makes you like them in specific? Not an attack lol just curious.... My uncle has a mini-schnawzer (or however it is spelled) and been the coolest dog ever. I personally want a pitbull or a siberian husky though they shed hair like a mofo lol

As I mentioned earlier, they aren't yappy and nervous like a lot of little dogs. They are very confident, even to the point of being foolhardy at times. They are very alert (great watch dogs, probably not so great guard dogs :) ). I really like their temperament- very affectionate and loyal to their family group. They are a lot hardier and stronger than you'd think by looking at them. I gave Simba her name (Swahili word for "courageous warrior") when I brought her home and she didn't take any guff from Jupiter, even though she was a fraction of his size, to wit:

That is hilarious! I have a (Bengal) cat that does the SAME THING! He HATES citrus pieces. My roommate noticed when she dropped a piece of orange peel on the floor, Frankie went up to it. Then started freaking out like it was a bug/mouse, only he was scared of it too, running away.

The whole Pitbull controversy and stupid laws are the fault of the GHETTO "gangsta" owners who raised them to be asshole dogs. My friends with Pits raised all well-behaved awesome dogs that would lick you to death before even growling. It pisses me off, totally the douchebag owners' faults. I agree with 90%your of your post. The only part I don't agree with is the ghetto part. Ignorance is not just in the ghettos. I see people all the time try to raise a pit by keeping them locked up in cages. Pits demand waaaaay to much attention for most people and when they don't get it they act out. Truth is that pits are so willing to please people that if they think being aggressive is how they please their people. The willingness to fight stems from their bravery. Pits have no fear. Add that with making a dog fight and their powerful bodies and jaws you do have a perfect storm. Jasper there has some extreme abandonment issues. Part of the shit breaded that lied to my friend about him being pure. He is mixed and they sold him when he was still very young. We have alot to work on but I love the little guy and he is making progress. Used to have some food issues with the other dog here in the house. We have beat that. He is just worried he will end up alone.he wont. I love these dogs because they are loyal and brave. So brave that time and time again they have saved their people and even strangers. I hate how the news hardly reports the many stories of when a good dog gives its life to save their families. Blame the deed not the breed.

Yeah and sometimes it isn’t even because of teaching them to fight that makes them mean! I have a friend who rents his basement to a tenant that has a Pitbull. Well since Pitbulls are banned in Denver (not a ghetto area at all), this poor dog is not allowed in the backyard for fear that the dog will be seen and removed/fined. This Pitbull lives almost its entire life inside a locked inside a kennel, because the owner will not let him out when he is at work and only gets to go into the yard late at night use the restroom then right back in the kennel. This poor dog now has issues with its legs and stuff from no exercise and is in pain. Well of course this dog has become very protective of their space, this tiny kennel, and shows signs of getting aggressive if you get too close. Not the dog’s fault at all, stupid owner that shouldn’t even have a dog. So basically the “ban” and a bad owner has made this dog aggressive; no fighting, no ghetto area!

P.S. And yes I have tried to get involved. I went as far as getting a new home for this dog, but when I confronted the owner he told me to mind my own business and it is his dog to do what he wants with. Long story short I was about to beat the guy down, but my friend begged me not to because he needs the tenant to help pay his rent….uggh …lame! Very annoyed by both of them I had to leave the house, but still pissed me off to this day.

I hear ya, and no offense to anyone who might think I meant it as a racial inuendo. By ghetto, I meant the stereotype we see in the media, news, hiphop videos/culture, etc. Those are just examples, but not all-encompassing. They've always been considered "tough", "scary looking" dogs, along with Rotties, etc. But in reality, 95% of the time it's the way they're raised/trained, not genetically pre-disposed to be aggressive.
