A Hoke County preschooler was fed chicken nuggets for lunch because a state worker felt that her homemade lunch did not have enough nutritional value, according to a report by the Carolina Journal.

The West Hoke Elementary School student was in her More at Four classroom when a state agent who was inspecting lunch boxes decided that her packed lunch — which consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips — “did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines,” the Journal reports.

The decision was made under consideration of a regulation put in place by the the Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services, which requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs to meet USDA guidelines.

“When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones,” the Journal reports.

The student’s mother told the Journal she received a note from the school about the incident and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter only ate three chicken nuggets.

The note explained how students who did not bring “healthy lunches” would be offered the missing portions and that parents could be charged for the cost of the cafeteria food, the Journal reports.

The mother, who was not identified in the report, expressed concern about school officials telling her daughter that she wasn’t “packing her lunch box properly.”

Guess the moral of the story is skip sexting and just go fuck--at least make the felony worth it.

...but, yeah, this country is going Orwellian at every turn.

I think the ones that need to get USED to it are the cops and DA.

So over a harmless picture the person (child) willingly took of themselves will now make them pay big time. Pay more then the crime was with registering as a sex offended possible for life, having to explain this on job applications, not to mention lawyer fees the parents have to burden. The punishment does not FIT the crime.

Only thing more stupid is if they start to charge the parents who got them the phones. I'm surprised that has not happened yet.

Seems pretty healthy to me, especially considering what some kids eat. :dunno:

I heard on the news last night that they made a mistake and the kid's meal did meet the guidelines. I don't know if this would be considered a full-blown "nanny state" issue. The guidelines are there for the stupid trailer-trash parents who send their kids to school with a bag of Cheetos, candy, and a soda, not for the sensible parents. Obviously these "food cops" need some serious retraining AND COMMON SENSE.

One of my professors also works in DPS and is appalled at the crap they serve. He says some schools are training their workers to "scratch cook", instead of just reheat frozen processed shit, and have a salad bar. But many schools still haven't made the jump. As always it's gonna be a budget issue.

He actually had to argue with a parent who was pissed they weren't serving chocolate and strawberry milk anymore! Oh really? Stupid mom!

Thank God for people like Jamie Oliver (and other chefs) exposing the toxic practices of McD's, schools, etc.

^ I took a PB&J, pudding cup (sometimes fruit cup), and a ding-dong or zinger (something to like that) and a fruit rollup. I think my drink was juice. Oh, got a pickle too from time to time.

In High School, private school in Vienna, Austria I bought my lunch. Pizza, 2-Chocolate milks and a donuts was my DAILY lunch...LOL I also had Gatorade in my locker next to the 5th of Jack...LOL

I survived just fine, and so did many other kids. I was never FAT.

It's really none of the schools business. Like I mentioned my best friend is allergic to all kinds of foods like chicken. All it would of took was for that child to be allergic to what the OFFICIAL thought they should be eating and they be sued for millions.

Of course they are claiming a mistake now, look at the press coverage on this. I bet the school has been flooded with letters/emails on this matter.

The news on TV this morning said, milk was left out was the reason. SOME PEOPLE CAN NOT DRINK MILK. So again (if true) the system assuming your child can have milk.

I have a cousin who has an issue with touching food and the texture of it in his mouth. I forget what it is called. But he just does not eat like OTHER kids, even stuff like candy.

So at the end of the day is it better for them not to touch anything on the school lunch plate or better for them to eat those chips, soda, and fruit rollup!!! I think the later is better at least it is something.

it doesnt always stay like that. phones get hacked. photos spread. things like that. and there is no age limit on child porn. sure they can see it in the mirror every day but sending the pic is braking the law. i dont like it much either but it helps feed those child sites.
