I had one in the past, but that was in Louisianna where the roads are relatively flat and driveways aren't up hills. It was fun for a little while. Easy to load the bike for sure.

Nope, lowered trucks are gay.
However I'd have to agree its alot easier, and safer loading the bike in to my little 2wd S10 than it was loading into my 4X Duramax. I do miss that truck though.

I've always liked trucks that are slightly lowered and more leveled. I've driven trucks my whole life until I moved out here; now it's an SUV.

Whatever floats you boat... Sure, loading bikes would be easier when you're scraping the ground, but how often do you actually need to do that?

I'll keep the higher ground clearance and my 33's so I can get to camp sites that are not little neighborhoods in the woods, not worry about bottoming out on a speed bump, go play on my friend's ranch... I do these things far more often...

Not too much into the "lowriders" but totally dig trucks that have the suspension built. Most people that dont "lower" cars/trucks dont understand why its being done and some people that own the cars/trucks only do it for looks. If done with quality parts on the right car/trucks its probably one of the best things you can do to it.

Not much leaves the high-end shops now days without a total suspension overhaul.

If they have hydraulics! I grew up next to a guy that did "Hop" contests and would go with him to shows. The front of his truck would go up like 5ft! He also had a Impala with 16 switches!

As soon as they both get back to CO I'm going to smack them around a bit. Even going over something as simple as a regular parking lot exit these guys are now 3 wheeling it because they feel the need to have "Stance". Nice way to fuck up some fast Balts.

My truck is 2wd so no point in lifting it. I got it so I could carry things like bikes and other shit. Did not get it to go off roading, I use it as a daily driver so having it 6 inches or whatever up higher would just be a pain in the ass. I hardly ever worry about getting stuck, every once in a while if it snows a shit ton, but its not like im the only one stuck then anyways.

Honda's S800 was rwd, and that's one of the first cars they sold here.

Fwiw, I found an RX7 R1 that'd be tempting if I didn't have the previous experience I had with one...

Not quite... I did spend a dime on it though. I owned an import shop from 98-2002 kept a ton of hookups and favors. I had also saved a few parts from other cars. That saved 10k. Its pretty amazing what you can do (for cheap) when you try. Once you get any car to a certain level people start to gravitate to it, they want to be a part of it. Its actually pretty cool!

Ezzzzy, out of curiosity, why'd you go S/C instead of turbo on that build?

Honestly, I just had heard that it was the thing to do if you wanted a car that tore up the race track. The S2K is insane in the corners and the supercharger just gives it that much more. If you are going to run 1/4 mile you gotta do turbo (thats what Pang is running).

nah not "better" but thats the reason i own my lowered truck is because i use it for towing :) if not for that i would own a car that got decent gas mileage.

Im still lost at how a lowered vehicle is better for towing. Roads are not known to be perfectly flat. Even my lift on my 450 hits some dips in the road and it at full lift is over two feet off the ground. I think you are mistaking the term towing for hauling.

modette99
Sun Feb 26th, 2012, 01:48 PM
To me trucks are for utility use, and a low-rider is not really much use. Not sure how a lowered truck slammed to the ground goes up even the simplest dirt roads...LOL How about winter time driving? It just don't make sense to this cracker. I'm not a fan of extremely lifted trucks either, unless it has a purpose. Most extremely lifted trucks you never see on dirt roads much less offroad either.

while my truck is worthless on some off roads it has its own fun in other areas. i plan on building a crawler here in the next few years fromt he ground up. as for just normal off roading i would like to have another toy. a few friends and i are planning to build some rally trucks and smash each other up out in the desert. just for fun.
