Ride - Saturday 2/25/12 (Colorado Springs)

It's been over a month since I've gotten to ride and cabin fever is setting in!

Tomorrow looks good - Sunny and 55ish so I'm going for a ride.

I haven't decided on a route yet but the road conditions look good. (http://www.cotrip.org/roadConditions.htm) I'll at least do Hwy 50 Canyon City to Salida and may drop down south on 285 to head to 114 to Lake City and South Fork (35 degrees and 55 degrees, sunny).

If I just do Salida that's only 200 miles.

I'll be leaving Colorado Springs around 8:00 from the Shell/Circle K gas station at South Academy and Hwy 115.

Pace will be speed limit'ish because I really can't afford another ticket. Just an easy paced Saturday ride.

It was cold in some areas but made tolerable with the heated gear. The real issue today was the wind. I rode down to La Veta and I was planning on pushing on to Taos but before I pushed on further I checked the forecast. Windy conditions to at least Questa, NM so I decided to turn around and slab it back home from Walsenburg. I spent a good hour with my bike leaned over but going in a straight line, not fun.

After Pueblo the wind died down and it got warm again but by then I was already pretty much home.

Oh well, we're only 2 months away from the "official" start of the riding season :)

I had some fence to put back up from the wind earlier in the week, or I would of went with. Instead, I headed up the canyon for a late lunch in Salida. Left around noon and got back right @ 5PM. Not to bad temp wise but as with Clovis, the wind was and issue. Probably not nearly as bad as you out on the plains, but enough to elicit a few cus words. Good to get out for a few hours and hit some turns.
