Honestly I doubt he would have got any of those injuries (at least not that bad) if he had proper gear on. He is wearing lame tennis shoes and one of the main things in riding shoes is I it very stiff to prevent your foot from breaking like that. You never see riding shoes that don't come up above the ankle. Live and learn!

my friend in highschool blew out EVERYTHING in his knee, broken femur etc... in a football game. his lower leg was twisted around backwards dangling from the skin. he was screaming for his life, coach comes up and yells at him to shut up, and hes just instantly silent sitting there until the amber lamps got there. the kid that him was crying uncontrollably

ouch.. from listenting to the bike i dont think he even saw it. no change in motor speed or anything.
guy on bike in shorts with tennis shoes is a bad idea but not everyone listens. as i've learned in the sportbike community, i will always will stand by ATGATT. All The Gear All The Time. best advise i have taken from the veterin members of CSC and always pass it on.
