They're having a promotion for giving people 500MB per person who joins through a referral link, in addition to the initial 2 free gigs.

I use dropbox for real-time cloud-hosting school work- and it works like a charm. I've got my laptop, desktop, iPhone, and office computer all effortlessly synced to share whatever folders and files I elect, in addition to instantaneously sharing folders/files with team-members on group projects.

I'd definitely recommend dropbox to those who want some cost-free, pain-free storage space!

If you're interested help a brotha out by using my referral http://s1.E46Fanatics.com/forum/images/smilies/wavey.gif: http://db.tt/VikQs4it ,

They give more storage space all the time. Not just as a promotion. ;)

If you're hurting for more space, then spend a few bucks and they will provide it.

Look into your 'Dropbox' location, and you will find that you're hosting, but 'Dropbox' provides the link for your hosted data between others.
It takes about 45mb of physically memory to keep the 'box' open too.

Yeah, although who doesn't like free when they can get it!? ;)

On my primary machine, the client only uses 30mb of my 4096mb (< 1%) to keep the files up to date if I make changes or additions; a very minimal amount of memory.

All files and folders are securely held on their servers (aka cloud storage) as I can acquire any of my stored files from the Dropbox cloud, even while all my other devices are powered down/offline!

^ yep, I host my GPX files this way to share. Plus there is a smartphone app to, so you can also host pictures and what have you. It's a nice piece of software.
