From NovaChick on CRN today:

***UPDATE ON THE PAVING***

As of today, 4-19-2012 - Drag strip is DONE!!! Remainder of the 2.2 mile track is being paved, pavers are between turns 1 and 2!! The asphalt has to cure, obviously, so we're keeping people off but as soon as we're able we'll start getting the rubber on it that everyone is so worried we won't have.

If you're on Facebook I encourage you to like the Pueblo Motorsports Park page (link is in my sig) for all the updates regarding the paving and the facility as a whole.

And cars will be racing on it on May 5th. They are using highway spec asphalt without any polymers so it will get tore up very quickly. Let's hope for the best.

Why do a job right the first time? It makes too much sense.

Another short update:

We're not officially open/running but we already have all but two of our weekends booked for both drag racing and road racing (May thru end of October) so the schedule is done and can be found on our website, www.pueblomotorsportspark.com (http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.com).

And there are updates and things on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/pueblomotorsportspark - We are overhauled, revved up and ready to race (ok, almost ready haha!)

The problem is not the highway grade asphalt, it's the cure time. HPR cured for about six months. Two weeks is not long enough. Even if they were doing a 4 to 6 inch base the asphalt has needs time before it's used. A two inch overlay will get pushed around by cars. Hopefully it will hold up.
