Outrage as Egypt 'plans farewell intercourse law so husbands can have sex with DEAD wives up to six hours after their death'

Egyptian husbands could soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives for up to six hours after their death, local media is claiming.

The controversial new law is claimed to be part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.
It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women's rights of getting education and employment.

Egypt's National Council for Women is reportedly campaigning against the changes, saying that 'marginalising and undermining the status of women would negatively affect the country's human development'.
Dr Mervat al-Talawi, head of the NCW, wrote to the Egyptian People’s Assembly Speaker Dr Saad al-Katatni addressing her concerns.
Egyptian journalist Amro Abdul Samea reported in the al-Ahram newspaper that Talawi complained about the legislations which are being introduced under 'alleged religious interpretations'.

The subject of a husband having sex with his dead wife arose in May 2011 when Moroccan cleric Zamzami Abdul Bari said marriage remains valid even after death.
He also said that women have the right to have sex with her dead husband, alarabiya.net (http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/04/25/210198.html) reported.
It seems the topic, which has sparked outrage, has now been picked up on by Egypt's politicians.

TV anchor Jaber al-Qarmouty slammed the notion of letting a husband have sex with his wife after her death under the so-called 'Farewell Intercourse' draft law.
He said: 'This is very serious. Could the panel that will draft the Egyptian constitution possibly discuss such issues? Did Abdul Samea see by his own eyes the text of the message sent by Talawi to Katatni?
'This is unbelievable. It is a catastrophe to give the husband such a right! Has the Islamic trend reached that far? Is there really a draft law in this regard? Are there people thinking in this manner?'
Although reported in local media, there are some suggestions from within Egypt that the plans do not exist and were merely seeded by journalists loyal to ousted President Hosni Mubarak.

While sick and twisted... you really think this is the sickest or most twisted things allowed by law within our band of "gallant allies" out there?

I get so confused too...
Are we supposed to ignore the cultural situations of our allies as being THEIR culture and rights, or criticize and impose our own through military invasion and / or corporate invasion?
Be involved or focus on our own internal problems and issues?
Which is it?

Agree that there are even worse things going on in Africa (female circumcism, genocide, chronic rape), India (bride killing, female infanticide), etc. Fucking disgusting though. And people wonder why I own this t-shirt from S.A.T.F.:

As many as 100,000 women in Britain have undergone female genital mutilations with medics in the UK offering to carry out the illegal procedure on girls as young as 10, it has been reported.
Investigators from The Sunday Times said they secretly filmed a doctor, dentist and alternative medicine practitioner who were allegedly willing to perform circumcisions or arrange for the operation to be carried out.

The doctor and dentist deny any wrongdoing.

The practice, which involves the surgical removal of external genitalia and in some cases the stitching of the vaginal opening, is illegal in Britain and carries up to a 14 year prison sentence.
It is also against the law to arrange FGM.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/04/22/article-2133427-12B64EF6000005DC-554_634x534.jpg Cases of Female Genital Mutilation are increasing across the UK but not one person has been prosecuted for any offences

Known as 'cutting', the procedure is traditionally carried out for cultural reasons and in Africa and with large numbers of immigration from countries like Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia it is becoming more common in the UK.

It is believed to be proof of a girl's 'purity' for when she marries, but victims often suffer in silence and are rarely given anaesthetic.

They frequently suffer long-term damage and pain and often struggle to stand or walk properly.

Research suggests that every year up to 6,000 girls in London are at risk of the potentially fatal procedure, and more than 22,000 in the UK as a whole.
The Metropolitan Police said since 2008, it had received 166 reports of people who fear they are at risk of FGM but it has failed to bring forward a single perpetrator.

It is the same for all 43 forces across England and Wales with no convictions for the offence ever taking place.
Only two doctors have ever been struck off by The General Medical Council since 1980.
The Sunday Times uncovered a respected dentist who was prepared to circumcise two girls, aged 10 and 13 and a GP who referred an undercover reporter to the dentist.
They also spoke to a supplier who deals in alternative medicine who offered to circumcise a 10 year-old girl for £750.
A midwife in Birmingham also said she had seen the number of mutilations in the area treble since 2002.
Alison Byrne, a specialist midwife at the Birmingham's Heartlands hospital who has helped pioneer treatment for women suffering from the condition said she has had patients aged between 16 and 40.
She said she had some women who had been left with an opening the size of a matchstick through which to pass urine and menstrual blood.
Ms Byrne added that as a result many of the women developed severe infections and can continuously bleed for days on end.

She has said there is a huge lack of training and knowledge among medical staff which is causing a serious problem.
Doctors at the hospital now offer a procedure called deinfibulation which involves the removal of scar tissue formed by the cutting of the clitoris.

It is offering hope to dozens of women affected by the condition.

It is also estimated that one in 20 women in parts of London are victims of the practice.[
Minister for equalities Lynne Featherstone said: 'Female genital mutilation is an abhorrent crime and we are very clear that hose found to practice it should feel the full force of the law.'

According to Forward, a charity which campaigners against FGM, an estimated 100,000 women in the UK have undergone mutilation.
Supermodel turned United Nations ambassador Waris Dirie, who was mutilated aged 5 in her home country of Somalia, is a vociferous opponent of the practice.
Calling for a crackdown on FGM, she said: 'If a white girl is abused, the police come break down the door. If a black girl is mutilated, nobody takes care of her. This is what I call racism.'

FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION - THE DIFFERENT TYPES

Majority of FGMs occur in Africa and Middle Eastern countries where it is seen as vital in preserving chastity.
In Somalia, Sudan and parts of Egypt more than 90 per cent of women are forced to go through with the procedure.
The first type involves the removal of the clitoris. The second type involves the removal of the clitoris and part of the labia - the outer part of the vagina.
This is the most common and account for about 80 per cent of FGMs.
The third type involves the removal of all external genitalia and stitching of the vaginal opening. Scar tissue eventually develops and only a small hole is left open.
The final type is the most severe and often leaves the women with infections and serious emotional scars.
It involves the cutting and sewing of the vagina and at times the introduction of a foreign substance into the vagina.

Yep disgusting. That's generally an Islamic practice, right? Not Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist/etc.? Just curious if there were other religions that do this too. I'm always up for adding to the knowledge.

I was around 16 at the time, and as a girl, the thought that millions of girls my age had undergone this terrible "surgery" scared the bejeezus out of me. But it also taught me a lot and drove me to want to take action.

Most of the victims are very young when they undergo this brutal mutilation, so they are essentially voiceless. It is a gruesome and barbaric practice that still needs the global awareness.

Waris didn't blame her mother (an extremly poor and uneducated Somalian who took Waris to visit some old desert lady who performed the local procedures, and who all treated it as a ceremonial ritual)- what was done was done. But she wrote the book to describe the horrific pain, the later complications, and her realization that with her modeling success in Europe that she was in a position to bring attention to it in the hopes that more young girls would grow up to be physically whole women. As we all deserve to be.

Like all religions across history (and I do not discriminate to any particular religion in history here - this is true of ALL of them) they cherry pick what traditions and "laws" they want to follow to suit their current political designs, who is in power and who is not, and if something doesn't fit - they create new ones through "interpretation" as they see fit. A way to keep feeling powerful over others and keep the sheep in line - just like it has been for thousands of years before and unfortunately likely will be for years to come.

To my knowledge, yes. Totally sick, and Britain needs to grow some f#cking balls and ensure the laws of BRITAIN, not sharia, are enforced. These Dr.'s need to go to prison, and then be exiled.

That'd be extremely desireable, but unfortuantely, my guess is that most of the people that perform these procedures are NOT real doctors anyway... (see my post above (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showpost.php?p=665778&postcount=10)). Which probably means that it'd be hard to track them down.

all religions across history--

have been dominated by males and thus can create whatever bullshit "laws" they want since females don't have a voice, or power, or the ability to protest without fear of being stoned to death, or suffer acid attacks, or any of the 10-million shitty things people do others who fail to adhere to the angry sky monster's dictates (as interpreted by men).

Agreed 1000%. I remember reading about this barbaric practice many years ago and it sickened me then. To have this practice alive and well, worse yet in a "civilized" country like Britain, is unthinkable, yet there it is.

Is that the one where she describes a rusty razor blade and how her mom and sister basically told her "We all had it done, you'll be fine."? If so, I remember reading that story when I was like 10 or 12 and it's stuck with me to this day.
