Unfortunately Darwin failed at cleaning up the gene pool in this case. The human brain-donor student only got broken feet, legs, and back. Effing dumbass...

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/08/colorado-college-student-critically-injured-after-jumping-off-building-into/?test=latestnews

A Colorado State University student is in critical condition after attempting to jump from the top of a three-story apartment complex Saturday into a swimming pool after onlookers urged him not to attempt the plunge, 9News.com reported.

The channel identified the student as Ian Smith, a sophomore. Smith suffered a laundry list of injuries, including broken heels, broken ankles and multiple broken vertebrae in his lower back, the report said.

Amateur video appears to show Smith climbing onto the roof of the building and without hesitation taking the leap. He fell feet-first and slammed into the concrete surrounding the pool before rolling into the water. One witness told the station that she saw a “pool of blood” after the jump.

"It definitely made me sick," Brittany Polliard, a witness to the jump, told 9News.com. Witnesses told the station that Smith appeared to be drinking before the jump.

"I don't even feel bad for the kid because who thinks to get on a roof and run off into a 6-foot deep pool?" one woman told the channel. "I mean, even if he had made it into the pool, it wouldn’t have been good."

Smart lady at the end of that article though, she's right, only six feet? Even if it was 12 feet, still retarded! Can't wait to see the video. *morbid*

Why cover the news when you can just let someone else do all the work?

On a positive note, he should still get an honorable mention.

Yep, totally thought of that Tosh vid where the kid cliff-jumped and hit the dirt first about halfway down. Lucky he didn't drown.

Haha twelve feet of water would have been way more than enough. Some people are not as smart s they think. But he would have to make it to the water. The six would have been okay if he actually landed in water.

You willing to test that theory? I wouldn't, even at 12ft. How deep are the Olympic pools where they do those real high dives?

I have jumped 36 feet into about 10 feet of water. I dont like it because it starts to sting the feet.

Oh Olympic pools are like 16 feet deep. Thats for diving. Making as littlle splash as possible. In least amount of surface contact as possible. This kid wasnt thinking of diving. Not even close. Ore else he WOULD be dead. Lol. We used to do a lot of cliff jumping in tahoe as kids.

I like the exageration on the description:

Here's me peforming the world's worst backflip into the Poudre River. Fort Collins, CO. I did end up jumping again later and sticking the landing.

Yeah stuck the landing by jumping feet down like everyone else and not doing a backflip :D

Proof I was there

:spit: Hey man just calling it how it was; we both know you never "stuck" that landing later like you claimed you did.

Lol I've done some cliff diving before too, damn fun! Furthest I've ever done is around 35 feet though. Anywhere above 30 and it starts forcing water into your sinuses and stinging your feet.

I said that I "jumped" in later Nate, not that I did a backflip in again. Don't nit-pick so much, it's not a good color on you.

You should know by now Barn I am way too old to care about what "color" suites me. Being popular to me was cool back in high school, now I am who I am and people can like it or hate it :dunno:

Don't jump off anything into water like that. I had some friends that way back in the day used to do that, and one of them, the lake was a little low and he didn't realize it and......broke his neck. He almost drowned and was paralyzed for a while, but, luckily he didn't sever his spinal cord, it had just swollen up and pinched all the nerves. He was in a halo for months though. He was LUCKY.

Before we jumped in, I swam in the river down as deep as I could (with the rushing current mind you...), and didn't feel any objects. I never jump or dive into water that I haven't checked for depth.

That, and a few of the guys went before me. :D
