Just a reminder to all my fellow riders:

Memorial weekend can be heinous in the canyons. Over the next few days, a shitload of people who bought boats, campers, and RVs will be rolling through many of our favorite spots. Many will be driving/towing this stuff for the first time or haven't done it since last summer. They may be lost, they may be stupid, and they may be using both lanes on the other side of that next corner or hill. Give yourself a little extra margin, JIC.

Enjoy the riding! Hopefully it won't be windy as hell today.

Likewise, I'll be out and about doing minor and mellow canyon cruising today after couple hours of work. Hopefully is not bad, enjoy your weekend safely everyone.

Also high wind warnings for most of the state today with gusts up 60mph. Be careful!

Thanks for the reminder! I actually thought about going up to the casinos this weekend because it's been so long, for a nice ride. BUT, then thought twice for exactly the reasons you listed.

It's a passage from a writing called Season of The Bike. Usually when someone asks me why I ride or what it's like I pull it up and have them read it.

Also, this is one of the most heavily patrolled & ticketed times of the year, so beyond idiots in RVs and minivans full of screaming children, expect plenty of LEOs to be on the roads.

...and then there's the inevitable drunk drivers as well...

So, good luck & ride safe.

That may be one of the most beautiful things I've ever read.
