Guess he needs more democrat voters, now that illegal immigration is trending negative. "wait, you can't leave, we'll make you stay"

Wow CM, you really don't look at the gray areas man. This is not a "black & white, catapult all illegals back across the border no matter what their situation or standing is" issue, seriously. I may get flamed, but I see these as pretty reasonable stipulations:

People under 30 who entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas when they were under the age of 16 will be immune from deportation, if they have not committed a significant misdemeanor or felony and have graduated from a U.S. high school or joined the military. They can apply for a renewable two-year work permit that won't provide a path to citizenship. Applicants will have to prove they've lived in the country for five consecutive years.

It's called "trying a compromise", something the GOP knows nothing about, instead of ironfisted mass deportations, as the current administration has actually been doing. And they also have increased border security significantly:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/may/10/barack-obama/obama-says-border-patrol-has-doubled-number-agents/

As for deportations:

Immigrant advocates and Latino leaders have criticized Obama for increasing the pace of deportations beyond that of the Bush administration. The Obama administration's tougher enforcement has led to the deportation of a record 1.1 million people in the last three years.

This sounds reasonable to me:

Young people who were brought into the country illegally or overstayed their visas as children are commonly referred to as "Dreamers," referencing the title of a decade-old bill that would have given them legal status if they joined the military or attended college. The Dream Act passed the House nearly two years ago, but was blocked by Republicans in the Senate.
Btw, Buckwheat rules! And he'll cut a bitch who doesn't read first and believes all the GOP viral email garbage. Obama isn't nearly as liberal/socialist/pro-amnesty as you might think.

What if the "dreamer" lives with their parents/aunts/uncles/cousins that are not "dreamers" will the parents/aunts/uncles/cousins get deported and leave the "dreamer" by himself/herself? Or do you only need one "dreamer" in the family and everyone else gets a free pass? Just wondering.

Dunno, but should be interesting to see how this plays as a first step towards some level of immigration reform for a broken system with no easy answers, that cannot please EVERYone.

Alot of bullshit going on. I was in court the other day for a speeding ticket. Yeah I fucked up, so I had to pay ( $380) didnt like it but had it coming. There were 5 different cases before me all caught driving without a drivers lic. Two had attorneys and each was told that since they are in this country "illegally" that the judges hands are tied and she cant do anything. She than sent them on their way without so much as even a fine.

So let me get this straight, I work pay taxes and get slammed for being here legally while someone thats here illegally gets rewarded by not even having to pay a fine. Fucking Bullshit and some change has to come!

Call your Colorado congressman/woman's offices (all of them), and pester them about what they're gonna do about that unfair bullshit. Call Tancredo's office and see what bills they know of or plans of action to correct this. It's obviously a completely ludicrous and unfair way to deal with that particular problem.

Funny how they are in front of the "law" and they are ILLEGAL alien, and there's nothing that the judge can do about it. Isn't the word ILLEGAL enough?

Fucking Bullshit and some change has to come! Wow! I use to deal with this when I live in New Mexico, but even worse! There is huge illegal Mexican gang down there called "La Raza" and same would happen to them when they did something as bad as assualt. They would go to court and judge would say the same thing that their hands we tied because they were illegals and either let them go or the worst they did was deport them back. 3 months later we would see that same person back in the gang when he was able to sneak back. It made them one of the most feared gangs because they knew and we knew that they would not get in trouble for anything they did. As they said it "thanks for the free trip to see my family".

F*ckin so stupid!!!

No shit, but I know if I got caught driving without a lic. etc. I would not only get some big as fine, get my car impounded but potentially do some jail time as my reward for being a legal citzen, paying taxes and holding down a job.

I agree, Illegal is just that. I am color blind when it comes to people but the playing field needs to be made level. I too came to this country as a immigrant but went throught the steps to do it legally and I couldnt wait to learn how to speak English so I could fit in. I sure the hell didnt expect everyone else to learn my language and get special treatment, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit!!!

FWIW, this bill is a special thing for the "dreamer" themselves, and they cannot appeal or otherwise include the rest of their family, nor does their (potential) change in status affect anyone else in any way.

And, again, this does not make them a citizen, it does not even give them a Green Card, all it does is give them the ability to apply for 2yrs of deferred action, so they cannot be deported within those two years.

They can then apply for a Work Authorization Card during that time, which allows them to work here legally for those 2 years. After that they'd have to re-apply for another WAC.

So, really most of what this bill is doing is getting the illegals to come forward, declare themselves as illegals (getting fingerprinted in the process) and being added to the Immigration database so the Gov't will have a record on file and are now "known" to be here.

That's the benefit to us--that now up to 800,000 illegals will be "registered" in the database, fingerprinted, and have an open file on them. Otherwise, we have no idea who's even here, where they are or what they're doing.

This is NOT an Amnesty (like the one Reagan did in the 1980s), or anything that grants them citizenship--they are just getting a Deferment of Deportation for 2yrs--that's it.

And, again, Obama has deported 1.1 Million illegals, which is more than any other President has ever done.

Now I think it's bullshit overall because this bill will put up to 800,000 illegals into the workforce--a workforce that is still stuck with high Unemployment for US Citizens, and US Citizens ought to come first--even if it's mostly jobs no American wants or would take...

So, If you want to bitch, then bitch about that, but get the facts straight about what this does and doesn't do, and how it has NO Effect on whether illegals get tickets, or whatever other shit people are rambling on about...

But, but, but I thought Reagan was "The Messiah"? :D

Another benefit to registering the ones mentioned in the article specifically (that fall under the stipulations), is that now you can assign them taxpayer ID numbers, and they can get treated like citizens when it comes to collecting their revenue, law enforcement, insurance, tickets, etc. From what I've gathered through friends who are Hispanic of some sort, they all know illegals, and they always tell me most of the ones they know do have taxpayer ID#'s and PAY taxes.

IF they are also not not involved in any sort of criminal activity, are making an effort to learn English, or speak perfect English already, then WHY NOT offer them a path to citizenship? Unless those people are stealing YOUR SPECIFIC job, then I don't see a reason to bitch too much. Especially if they are in the U.S. military, they should automatically be given citizenship after a set number of years of service!

I'll give you some good reasons to bitch:

1.) Strain on the public school system.
2.) Those that ARE involved in any sort of criminal activity.
3.) Those who might be gaming the system somehow to get free healthcare, welfare, or government support of some sort (this falls under "criminal activity" though, and obviously should be deported).
4.) Those that do not have a Taxpayer ID and aren't paying taxes.
5.) Those that send too big a portion of their incomes back to Mexico.
6.) Those that are not making an effort to learn English ASAP, AND learn the laws of my country ASAP.

--even if it's mostly jobs no American wants or would take...
But there's the rub, right? Very few people can name even one unemployed friend/familymember/associate/whoever, that would go pick produce in the fields (backbreaking HARD work), clean offices & bathrooms, work on a grueling factory assembly line, work in a meatpacking plant, etc. Just random examples, you get the point.

The Hispanic vote is typically democrat and they carried Obama in the last election. His approval with that demo graph is slipping so stuff like this is a good way to bump up those numbers.

It's an election ploy.
