Drama

Man I wish I have already moved to Denver. Vanilla Ice is performing free at Lodos on Thursday in Lone Tree. I was there this weekend getting wasted with friends and noticed the flyer. Its a free show too.

Let me know if he plays "Ninja Rap" LOL

*disclaimer, I have no affiliation to this bar, except for the fact that I got wasted there Saturday lol.

Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!

I wonder if he will do his old school rap or his new rock stuff. I bet the rock stuff since he always regretted his "Vanilla Ice" days.

Did it actually say Vanilla Ice or Rob Van Winkle?

Cypress Hill? Two were Cuban. Think maybe one was white of the three; DJ Muggs who is Italian, but acts and talks like a Mexican

Kid Frost....sorry Mexican too!

Kings of white rap! Obviously Eminem, but not far behind is now Atmosphere!!!!!

House of pain, Beastie boys, and Matisyahu... None of which are considered Rap.

House of Pain was a one hit wonder. Everlast tried it on his own and did somewhat ok.

Beastie Boys were/are considered as Hip Hop (Trip Hop, if you wanna get technical). And just so happened to be white, and Jewish!!!!

Matisyahu is an Orthodox Jew who sings Reggae with a lyrical hip hop twist.

Anyways, I remember Ice Ice Baby coming out the summer I started 6th grade!!!

Points taken, but let's not get too technical into subgenres of hiphop/rap. Triphop is separate and Beasties are not triphop. And most of the Matishayu I've heard (and saw him open for 311) would be considered hiphop/rap, not reggae-ish or dancehall, imo. Maybe I was too drunk and/or haven't heard enough of him.

TripHop kicks major ass: Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation, Sneaker Pimps, Lamb, Portishead, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic, etc. I could listen to that all day. EAR CANDY! And obviously (or so I've heard) it all especially goes good with...

Matty
Wed Jun 20th, 2012, 10:55 AM
Hahaha.... You and I have a much different definition of subgenres.... Anyways, it's all good... we can both agree that Vanilla Ice was in no way a lyrical poet and was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. A ten fucked up by luring about his upbringing!!!

NICE! Always loved that, just hated the censored version on the radio. Remember "Slam" by Biohazard & Onyx? That was another good one from that era.

All-time favorite rock/rap track is House of Pain, Shamrocks & Shenannigans, Butch Vig remix (end of the CD). Totally badass! I still rock that out in the car, but it makes you wanna drive very fast and very aggressively, lol. Everyone should listen, if they don't know it:

For real though some of the newer white rappers are great! Atrmosphere and Sage Francis are really becoming big time nowadays. Atmosphere actually headlined Red Rocks not long ago and that was even over Common who opened for Atmosphere.
