I know it's a Sunday and all but who's interested in spending all day own the canyons? How are the roads down that way? Since I'm a no0b who wants to keep an eye out for me or any other newbs? Early Start?!?! Say KSU 730am? I'll be bringing some Advil for the return trip but grab lunch in Victor? Blow some cash in the casinos? Ideas? Thoughts? Am I just dumb?

Ive have done Cripple Creek/Bishops Castle once or twice and it is sooooo much better than riding P2P, Bear Creak, Squaw, etc. Much less traffic, LEO, and bicycles, and since the locals are not constantly getting berated by assholes on motorcycles they are all very friendly. They tend to give you a thumbs up and pull over to let you go by.
If I wasnt going to HPR Friday Id be happy to lead for you guys. New baby equals one full day of riding a week.

If you're going to be in Cripple Creek, I recommend trying County Rd 11/High Park Rd from CC to HW9 (see link below). Its a nice road with virtually no traffic.

That was my original plan. Grim was going to make his first appearance at HPR on the Friday before and I wanted to be there to watch him fall down. However I just got a msg that he cant swing it with work, soooooooo Super Street it is.

I will be a tentative maybe for this as well. I am replacing my forks on Saturday the 28th and depending on the pain and agony of the whole installation I may be down for the run :) If so I have a friend in Westminster who also rides an SV (the one helping me to the fork swap) who would probably be down to also attend this run so we can test out the new forks and his new mods as well. I am a newb and he is more intermediate/newb status

jeez. My friend off the SVRider forums also lives in Westminster and has an 03 SV but he parks his in the garage. Ive heard a lot of bike theft attempts lately (on the SV forum as well), do you park the bike outside?

No garage. I have a cover and a brake lock on the rear. Apparently they didn't notice that cause it wasn't messed with.

any idea hyow long the entire ride is or will take? Trying to get another SV650 rider to attend, he is actually in Westminster where you are as well. I'm down in the DTC area. We are doing a front fork swap on my SV650 Saturday and as long as I am not weak and tired from the install then I would like to do this!

I'm a soft maybe. If I'm not there by 7:30 wait another 15min. If I'm not there by then, take a vote to see if you guys want to wait any longer. After the vote call me and let me know the results. If I'm not there by then I'm not coming.

Lol! 67 south from deckers, to woodland park to divide to cripple creek.

Jmetz

It turns to dirt at the Sprucewood Inn if you're coming from 85.

Not sure what you're trying to show. If you want to avoid it take 285 to Pine Junction and head down that way.

Nolan
Wed Jul 25th, 2012, 06:45 PM
That was kind of the plan to begin with. I guess I wasn't clear.
Morrison, pine, deckers, woodland park, divide, cripple creek.

Just FWIW, a suggestion in case it isn't already in the plans. A few miles before Cripple Creek, bail off (and out of the stream of gambling traffic) to the left/southeast for Victor at the high meadow former townsite of Gillett. This is the Lazy S Ranch Road or County 81. It is paved and will take you in sweeping and lonely fashion all the way to the authentic mining town of Victor only seven miles away. Real and not gambling town prettied up. BTW, at the top of the ascent, just before Victor, there is a sweet photo op (behind you), with penthouse views of Pikes Peak's shy southern sides. There is a closed road to the right for the pause if interest. In small downtown Victor, turn west on CO 67 for Cripple Creek five miles away. You will ride one of the funnest four mile stretches in the state.

http://goo.gl/maps/jUJp If you wanted to go longer you can take a left on 24 and stay on it into Leadville and then either stay on 24 or run 91 into I-70.
