If you are just missing some components like a suit or boots, just ask around. I know the MRA has some extra gear to loan out to Super Street riders.

I'll be there. Still in need of tires, but im sure I'll find some take offs there or just buy some new ones.

I bought my bike at Fay and they gave me a certificate with it. So looks like all you have to do is go buy a bike.

Hopefully, does anyone have any extra trailer space for my bike in the denver area or ideas on how to get there? My car doesn't have a trailer hitch, I was thinking of renting one of a van/pickup from uhaul and putting the bike in there? I hear it isn't the best idea to just ride to the track...

Will register at the track. Will most likely be set up on Super Street row (back by the entrance) as usual. For the new and first timers, your welcome to pit with me. Look for a red R6 #10, blue EZ UP.

Count me out this time and future SS races, so no loud ass little 250 on the grid.

I licensed up! :hibye: #301 on a white and black 250.

SS was a kick and definitely worth it. I will miss being on the grid with you hooligans, but will definitely watch you guys mix it up every Sat.

Well that was a huge turnout for the Saturday SuperStreet!
I heard 37 some said 35. Either way that was a ton of bikes.
A couple of red flags and restarts but no major incidents and it looked like all parties involved had fun.

You get the guy who went down on 9? I'm an idiot for not using my camera, I should have remembered a 37 SS grid + GoPro = Epic. I'm pretty sure Jeff was getting pretty fed up with it lol. But hey, no one got hurt! I had so much fun on the launches. Wheeling down the front straight just a couple inches off the ground while shifting lol. Vtwins are awesome :D. Took it slow on the gridded launch, would have been up that guy's ass in front of me. Definitely going to be there again in August. (If I don't work Saturday.)

He definitely didn't mean to do that, he was just trying to get back on the line he usually goes on through turn 11 and 12 (from checking my older video of him). I get stuck behind the same guy every superstreet, and he is normally very smooth and my passes always went smooth with him(including those in turn 11).

Yes, it's a long day especially when there are a few dozen riders, but for the uninitiated, it's a great way to get a taste of racing / a race day. For those of you talking about licensing up, do it!

He was on the line and made unpredictable move off of the line. He should have stayed to the left since that is where you want to be for 12. You don't need to use the whole track when cornering.

It is just a taste of racing, and a way for you to do it with out prepping a bike. It is also a cheaper way to a license with more opportunity to get input from different instructors.
1/2 day lapping is $90 pre registered without a lapping card discount. With sessions you get 2 hours. Endurance is $80 and you get (3) 20 min. practices in the morning wait around almost all day and a 30 min. race were they keep track of places and give out trophies. And if you spend the night you get (2) 25 min. practice sessions Sunday morning and then you can watch all kinds of racing both days and make a good weekend out of it.
Track days are great fun but there is nothing like actually racing!

Thanks for cornerworking, Rob! Haven't seen you in a couple years :)

Hey your welcome!!! It definetely has been awhile and I wish I could have met up with you and Bueller. It felt sooo good being in the pits again along with watching the different classes of bikes. Tell ya I was shocked to see how close the racing was in the 250 class! GREAT racing. Different lines and the view from my corner was awesome to see riders swapping places frequently. Overall I was pretty happy watching all the classes! Great battles going on in most all of the classes. Very beneficial for looking at different riding styles. Also the different lines that different classes take. I found that interesting. Corner speed was fun to watch as well as entry points, shifting spots, on/off the gas marks...basically everything. An awesome different perspective. Seeing friends I haven't seen in awhile was probably the best though. It's like a big family which is the best part. Can't wait to flag some more races for you guys. Hope to be out there again in a year or so for trackdays once the dust settles, then out racing a couple years after that when all my ducks are in a row. Great to be at the track again!!!!! If anyone is on the fence about corner working...do it! Its very beneficial in a number of ways.

We definitely appreciate you guys coming out to man the corners for our races!
I worked 5 during a Chicane day and I have to agree that is a good corner to view a wide variety of skills and techniques. Watching the fast group go through there was a real learning experiance that helped me with my approach to that corner. You can also see quite a bit of the track that no one else used to be able to see. Now they have the viewing area up behind 4-5-6.

Any guys on the fence about racing Super Street for the next round, because of needed gear, transportation or anything else, let us know. Us racers may be able to help.

Also if you want a free Super Street pass they have a slow drag race at the Fay Myers Bike nights at the Rock. It's the slowest time it take to cross between two lines.

Any ideas for transportation from the Denver area? I can definitely pay for the ride. Otherwise I was thinking to try to borrow a friend's' car that has a trailer hitch and renting a uhaul motorcycle trailer?

Transportation is definitely the only thing holding me back from registering.

Hey sean on the wrapped CBR 600. I know you had a great first time in SS even though you did bring out the 2nd red flag. Minimal damage to your bike. Get it back out there and lets work on your body positioning before your footpegs disappear :)

Ya I'll be there for sure! Haha yeah need a lil work on this thing called body position...

Any ideas for transportation from the Denver area? I can definitely pay for the ride. Otherwise I was thinking to try to borrow a friend's' car that has a trailer hitch and renting a uhaul motorcycle trailer?

Transportation is definitely the only thing holding me back from registering.

If you have a ramp or two and tie downs and pay for gas you're welcome to use my truck since I'll most likely be making it out there anyways for corner work. Only thing is we have to get going way early cause corner workers check in at 6:30 am sharp.

So is the following correct:

If I do my second super street and get my license, It will only be good through the end of the year. At the start of next season, I will need to pay to renew no matter what. So getting the license this late in the season is kinda pointless.

That's the assumption I've been going on, but I'd love for that to be wrong.

Yes to get a race license is now $150.00.

There is a MRA general meeting at the Walnut Room this Wednesday starting at 7:00pm. All racers including potential super street racers are welcome.

http://www.facebook.com/events/182809741852209/

You can learn more about racing, and meet other racers. Talk with the board members about what you might need to get into Super Street. We can help, just ask what you need and we will find a way. I know the transportation issue can be figured out. (plus the Walnut Room has really good pizza.)

Sat Aug 4th, 2012, 07:55 PM
If you do one of the last 2 SS you will eligible for next years licence at the beginning of the year and not miss a race if you plan on chasing points. You might be able to get a day license for the last round for $50 and it is double points so that would get you gridded up higher for the first race next year.

You were right, that guy swung out, tried shutting the door, and honestly crashed himself. Maybe I'm wrong... Good vid though.
Actually, that's a pretty good race line through t11 to get a good drive up the hill and carry speed through t12... usually. Unless someone is trying to pass on the inside. I didn't see that bike until we made contact. But typically, if you are the one trying to make the pass, you are also the one who needs to back off and not try to force the pass if the door shuts. The problem with Superstreet is that most riders are overeager to pass, and typically won't follow another rider to study their lines and set up the pass (e.g. passing on the brakes), not to mention that the rider being passed cannot see the guy trying to make the pass. But this class is for everyone to learn and improve, which comes with more track time. I'm glad that I wasn't hurt, and thanks to those around me for not running me over! See you guys for round 6 :loop:

Actually, it is not a particularly good line. This is a common passing area because people expect the rider to stay to the left. Check out the line on this video from an instructor from STAR MC school.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdfTnZGptSk
When you drift back across to the right you go off the common line and since you hit the back of his bike he had already passed you, and the reason you went down and he didn't.
On track days following a person and studying their lines and passing in a courteous fashion is the rule. In racing it doesn't work that way very often. There is a lot of close passing and generally if you get in front it forces the following bike to pull up. It is something that takes awhile to get used to but people use your survival instinct against you. ;)
Here is my Endurance race from earlier that day, you can see the line I am talking about as I chase Ray-Ray.
http://youtu.be/3xfb9PSRYC8

Being an a lower HP bike (SV650) we have to make some aggressive passes on the 600's we catch from the middleweight grid, I try and make them as safely as possible but the more I follow them the further the guys in front get away so I can't always wait if I want to stay in the race.

Good luck out there!

The problem here is that you apex the turn too early forcing you a bit wide on the exit. If I had been in the following riders boots I would have made the same move he did and executed the pass. Because you're wide at the exit of T11 you end up having to make a bit of a dramatic move across the track to set up for T12. This is what causes the trouble. A later apex at T11 will automatically set up the entry to T12 and not allow the opportunity for a pass to take place.

Glad you're OK and that we get to see you at Round 6!

I think superstreet classroom should spend a minute on safe passing. I saw a lot of very aggressive and one or 2 very DUMB moves while I was out there. Simply because, they didn't know any better and they wanted to get around the guy. I'm glad I kept my passing to certain zones because there's a few times where I could have gone for it and gotten taken out big time.

I was still able to get a few saucy passes in and enjoy myself though

I definitely had a tighter line through 11 the first 2 laps, and should have kept it through the entire race. The problem I had with t11 during the first round at HPR was being able to carry speed, so I was trying to figure out a way to be faster through there. During the SS practice, I spend most of that time trying to memorize the track instead of being able to experiment with different lines. In a perfect world I would be able to do that on the friday lapping day, but because I work 12 hr shifts, its already dark by time I get off of work so that's not going to happen. Another struggle I have is I've had many concussions playing college and pro football, so my short term memory is virtually non-existent which makes it really hard for me to learn the track and remember my good lines. It's something that I work on everyday to improve, but it will always be a struggle for me. I appreciate the advice that is given by the guys that have more track experience, like I said before, the superstreet class is all about learning to improve our track skills, and that doesn't happen without a few bumps and bruises! Thanks for sharing your vid!

I haven't heard anything about north course for the next round. T6 and T8 are very ride able as of last round so I don't believe there are any plans to run another alternate course this year. They will likely do at least one round, possibly 2 next year. Even if they were to run N.course it is still a very fun layout and they increase the # of laps to make it the same length of a race so you don't lose out. It also makes it a better small HP track.

what was the reason for doing only north course?

Bueller
Sun Aug 12th, 2012, 07:24 PM
Oh, maybe I shoulda gone to the meeting

When they polled the racers earlier this year after we were forced to run North course due to pavement repair problems, no one really objected to it because it is a lot of fun and it was voted on in one of the meetings and it was an easy majority that wanted to run it again. At that time it seemed more of a next year type of thing.
If anyone doesn't ride just due to the configuration you will be missing out, as stated it is a great alternative that most everyone who ran it enjoyed.

Well consider this.
With the north course you will actually have more track time. Also the approach through turns 9 and 10 is completely different moving 20+mph faster. You now have to brake for 10.

Full Course is 2.55mi - 7 Laps = 17.85mi
The West Course is 2.00mi - 9 Laps = 18.0mi
The North Course is 1.83mi - 10 Laps = 18.3mi
The Short Course is 1.28mi - 14 Laps = 17.92mi

Turns 6 and 8 still are still bumpy, so it will be a smoother ride to run the North Course. They are looking at a complete repave of those turns for next season. There isn't time now due to the race schedule of the other clubs.

Ya, I felt my rear starting to slide going into 4, so I stood it up a bit and ran wide into the dirt. I LOVE turn 1, so I can keep it going through there. I have the rear view camera footage that I'll put up tonight.

So are we suppose to flip Wicky off when we pass him now instead of when he takes a picture of us?

I can't keep up with these things...
I thought that was an unsaid rule already?...

A few good laps? ;) Heh. He was the dust cloud in turn 4 that I came up on, I passed him into turn 1 after that, threw the bird and took off. I missed my braking point for turn 2 because of it, but did a little trail braking to slow it down to finish off the turn.Go right ahead... :)

I thought they always ran HPR clockwise? Those counter laps are making my brain hurt.
