Been overhauling my yard for the last 3 weeks I have done everything by hand and the only piece of equipment i used was a Tiller to rip the Grass up, everything was raked, shoveled and moved by me and myself.

The front main yard and side yard before anything was done, this is how it was when we bought the house in December.

After ripping the grass up I started putting up the walls and deciding what design we wanted to go with.

You REALLY don't like mowing, do you?

:spit: You cant mow rocks?

Didn't have much to mow in the first place, and the Tree roots were surfacing all over the damn place so there were some nice speed bumps when i tired to mow.

not bad, i'm trying to overhaul my front yard as well. It's turning into a nightmare though. The previous owners left me a "box of chocolates". It's beginning to become a pain in the butt. So far, I've done some tilling and raking. Filled in a hole that used to be a pond and tried to dig out a stump that for some reason has cement around it.

Grim,
Contact me through PM.

Your future maintenance free work will require a lot of rework if you do not. It is not code compliant.

I forced RTD to fix a landscape project because they had a short sighted planner/designer. The purposed project (rework) ended up saving RTD money in the long run.

Hate from Nate. :D

A lot of people do not have a 'big picture' shoot from the hip style.
Embrace the love Nate. 8)

If Grim is open to assistance. Grim will contact me, shares the wants/needs, and I could contribute to Grim once we have a dialogue.

There were no permit's required, and as of now there are no zoning issues but i was advised once the spartan junipers get to there full size they would be over the property line and if the neighbor decided they did not like them hanging over their property line they could trim/cut them which is not ideal for these trees. Dapper gave me some very good advice and advised i don't have a tree growing my yard but a weed.

Dapper, thoughts on breed of trees and places to purchase? I do live in COS.

I am torn on the evergreen vs deciduous. I appreciate the color through out the year but do like the shade and variations throughout the year of something that falls off.

We do have a fair amount of wind on the Sunbird cliffs area. Full sun. Will be near the edge of my "grass" so will be able to be watered in the same cycles. Must be deer resistant.

Any ideas? Been looking around the 'hood to see what others have that works but haven't made up my mind....

Fuck the neighbors yard, what about your driveway!

After measuring it, the tree will push out into the driveway about a foot, we only have 1 car and two motorcycles so it wont be a hassle in any way, plus if i really want to trim them up a little up to keep em uniform i can.

Looks way better! Happy to see you kept the big tree, and those side-shrubs look good, compared to total xeriscaping. You're gonna save a ton on the water bill. I only have grass in front and the bill still surprises me, ugh.

Got a bill for like $300+. As soon as you go over a certain amount they really stick it to you.

The joys of being a homeowner....although still worth it to me over giving someone else money to rent.

Yeah I dipped into that tier one summer, eff that anymore. Now I cut down to alternating nights watering, and only two cycles (9p & 5a), of 10mins max each, 15min on the shrub/drip circuit. Even then, it adds up. But still have green grass, so might even cut that down to 5min cycles.

I quit using my sprinkler system and it went from $200 a month to a max of $75. But my whole yard isn't green, just the areas I want green. My yard is almost .40 acres too....

I don't water the lawn. It goes brown around July and then I don't have to cut it....win/win.

Definitely, but maybe without the pulled over part. Still gonna try to make it back to Denver in the next couple weeks. If so, maybe we can put together a long Saturday ride.

I put seed in the back yard after I changed the landscaping drastically.

Watering for just seed sucked too.

Looks good.
