Playing around with a new method of tumbling brass before reloading.

Using Stainless steel media, water, soap, lemishine, and a rotary tumbler.

This is about 3 hours of tumbling. Something my old vibratory tumbler could never accomplish.

This is my first load, so the shine isn't quite as high as some of the other guys if you go look on ARFCOM or Snipershide. I will get the recipe worked out and they will look even closer to brand new then.

Clean pile of brass (small load). Clean primer pockets.

The pile of clean brass (only a small partial load).

Yes I reload. For tumbling I use a hornady tumbler, walnut media, and some brass polish. Put it in for 2 hours and comes out amazing.

I never tumbled when I reloaded. Picked up the brass, wiped it off, and started measuring the grains. They look purty but do they shoot any truer?

Less build up inside the casing, clean primer pockets, no dust, and less mess when separating media from cases.

Shoot any truer? Remains to be found out. I doubt it, but since I am working up precision reloads for bolt guns, I tend to take my time and put care into it.

"Bad recipe" looks pretty good! What tumbler did you go with?

I just picked up a Thumlers Tumbler Model B.

There are two versions, a 1550RPM and a 3000RPM. Most guys prefer the 3000.

I ended up with a 1550, so I have to tumble a little longer, but I don't care.

Midwayusa and Brownells have packages for them now, but I bought my pins about a year ago, and finally convinced myself to buy the tumbler instead of make one, so I just got started yesterday.

To give you an idea of what can be done when the recipe gets dialed in, here are some before and after of a guy that has been doing this a little longer than me.
