Anyone have any experience with the Star lineup of Bell helmets? Looking to upgrade my lid for the new year. Debating between this and going back to Shoei.

I know Performance carries some Bell helmets but not the Star lineup if I recall. Anyone know of a place that carries them locally?

Give 303 Cycles a call, been a while since I've been in there but they carried Bell, IIRC.

If you try the Star helmet on and don't like the fit try on the RS-1 it may fit you a bit better. I was going to buy a Star but the RS-1 was a much better fit and that's what is important. Talk to Brian @ Speedin' Motorsport (https://www.speedinmotorsports.com/) 505-215-0985 and he can set you up with helmet that will fit you the best whether its a Bell or you need something else.

It's an awesome helmet. Super light, super plush, and flows air very well. Look for a 2010 or newer as they changed the interior shaping and the sizing fits as it should.

I've had two because they fit my huge melon. They are good, but if you get one make sure you get the Solfx shield. It's tits.

I recently bought a Bell Star Carbon helmet, the Cerwinski. I'm overall happy with it, it was a toss-up between the Shoei RF1100 and it. Carbon Fiber rules. It fits me rather well. I ordered it with the photochromatic windscreen, which auto-adjusts, and it is PIMP. It seems like it is always just perfect. I've ridden into direct sunlight, and didn't feel like I needed sunglasses at all, and ridden in pitch black and could see perfect. Love the screen. As for the helmet itself though:

Pros- Very lightweight, great aerodynamics and airflow, and I love the paint scheme. Looks badass with a mohawk.

Cons- Wind noise is quite a bit higher than my last Shoei (RF900).

That's not your helmet. Yours has a mohawk, remember? :P

By the way, you can't tell in the picture, but the black parts of the helmet are just clear-coated carbon fiber, so you see the weave. It's like watching porn on a helmet.

I love my RS-1. Relatively light, decent venting, fits great and it dint cost me more than a few hundred.

Apparently I can't!

As Aaron said, the picture doesn't do the helmet justice. It's a sweet lid.

And it's like sweet with tatoos if it has a Mohawk.

Review:
(Coming from a Shoei X11) They only had the RSD in my size and wasn't sure how it was going to look in person. When I got it I was blown away at how awesome it was. The RSD is all matte (not glossy anywhere) and is a little bigger than my x11. Probably closer to my old Icon, but the size wasn't noticeable. It felt great. I've worn M in all helmets and the star was a tad looser but still had a proper fit.

My favorite part is the transition shield! I've never used a darker shield because of the hassle. I didn't even notice that the shield was changing while I was riding. I didn't notice until I pulled it up at a stop light. I don't think I could ever ride without one again.

My only problem so far is the chin strap. It's comfortable but it has a magnetic latch, instead of the button i've been accustomed to, and the magnetic latch seems to get unlatched pretty easily.

All in all the Star is exactly what I wanted in my new helmet.

$300? Yikes I thought I had gotten a killer deal at $435 shipped. This was a few months ago and it was the best I could find at the time.

Like he said, praise the transition shield.

The magnetic chin strap doesn't bother me, and has never come unglued on me. I actually like it because of how quick it is. Did you notice the carbon star being a lot louder than your previous helmet?

And yes there is definitely more wind noise than my x11 but i'm a sweater so I I love the extra breeze.
