Frustrated!

I've been shopping for a bike lately and I ran into this problem.

I was interested in this bike

Today I was searching and look what I found

SOB who bought it a couple weeks ago is flipping it.

I guess all is fair but it sucks for a guy like me who is trying to buy a bike

Couple years ago I found an 08 1000RR where the guy was willing to drop to $4k. Nice condition & rode fine, but had 38k miles. The guy had replaced the tires & changed the oil, but that's it. And he had gone through a clutch after 2 years. Skipped all the other maintenance. I let that one go, & I regret it to this day. I could have swapped out the cluster & sold it for a BIG profit, but I didn't want the bad karma...

I really like the 08 r1 until I heard the exhaust note on the crossplane engines but....

I fell in love with the 08+ ducati 848. :( I wish I hadn't seen it in person. I didn't do my research and let a good deal slip pass me but I finally forgave myself. I'm saving up to buy one, hopefully soon.

Do sprockets really add on 3000 miles or is this dude just lying?

it could if you drove around long enough to rack up 3000 miles
stock gear could be 1.05 to 1 then right gear could move it up to 1.5 miles to 1 actual
but that would take a while to do just like a larger tire take more to rotate so throws mileage off

Do sprockets really add on 3000 miles or is this dude just lying? Yeah on some bikes it will if you do not get a Speedohealer to correct the speedometer; shows you are going faster thn you are; therefore adding more miles too.

Although you could change the sprocket the other way and show less miles than it actually has.

I bought my R1 from this guy and he is legit. He doesn't fuck around and he is a straight up guy, I can vouch for him. He has a sick black R33 GTR VSPEC and he babies that thing and his toys more than his gf :lol:

But I hate flippers as well. My best friend does that in San Diego as a side gig. Buys super cheap, cleans them up and flips them and does quite well at it. The market for bikes in socal is insane so he can flip really easy. But it sucks for those of us looking for a bike and then a good deal comes along and some jackass buys it to flip.

BTW for the OP, I really really liked your lime green 636 and really really liked that gorgeous blue r6 you bought to replace it! Those are my 2 dream bikes in all the right colors :)

Things to consider are, maintenance costs and intervals, parts are way more expensive and I'm sure so will insurance... Just some thoughts and not trying to drive you away from a 848 but again things to consider.
