With the success of my current production of shirts I've decided to make a go of a business. Before I make a post for rules, releases, disclaimers and such, I thought I'd see if there's any interest in a contest to design my company logo. I thought it would be fun/interesting to see what people come up with. The winner would receive a shirt and a couple stickers. This contest will be posted elsewhere as well.

Interested?

And I've been gettin' shit for offering "merely" $150 for a successful logo design for the company I'm trying to get off the ground (not here...elsewhere).

www.48hourslogo.com seems pretty cool. I think that's where I'm gonna end up going to have a logo designed. Artists compete for your business, so technically it's a "contest", but really...isn't everything a "contest"?

Anyhow...check it out. Might garner more interest there than here.

I'm out. =P

Here is the deal with logos.... Ive done a lot of them for free or $150 or $500, the problem isnt the designer. The problem is the person that wants the logo.

Its funny but the more I charge the less I revise. 10 out of 10 times when I do a cheap or free logo design for someone THEY are the ones that want soo much out of the deal.

So for what its worth, I still do it but when I have other things to be done the design gets put to the side until I have time. Most people are too impulsive to wait a week for something.

There are a few websites out there that do this and I think its great. I usually end up directing people that want to spend less then $300 to stuff like this.

The only real problem that I have ever seen come out of designs like this is that twice I have seen logos that look great but are built poorly. Its a little hard to explain but resolution, layers, colors and a handful of other things (stuffs not vecorized) can be in the wrong order or non-existent and when you go to print or embroider things get all crazy. The real problem is that getting a hold of the person that designed your logo is a PAIN int he arss.

But yea, these websites are good for simple designs at a cheaper cost.

Interesting. I've never seen something like that before.

Reminds me of when I was a student at Oklahoma State. There was this beer bar called Eskimo Joe’s that a couple students started in 1975. One of them did a t-shirt design and eventually sold it and his part of the business to the other. Since then, they have sold millions of t-shirts and other items with the Joe’s logo, and their t-shirts have been spotted all around the globe. There is a clothing store next to the bar that sells the clothing and all kinds of items with the original logo. Needless to say, the remaining owner has done very well and owns a number of restaurants in Stillwater.

For that shirt. I'm starting a business and will be selling other shirt designs. This contest would've been for the company logo.

Sorry, wish I could help, but I've only used photoshop for fun and no pro at it.
