I know there are some friends of the incline on the forum -

Be aware that Manitou Springs changed the parking requirements yet again. You now have to pay if you want to park anywhere on Ruxton and the main road taking you through Manitou. You will need a credit card. The machine does NOT accept cash.

You will need to enter your plate number. Cost is $1 for the first 3 hours and then it goes to $3 for each following hour.
So if you plan on being up there for more than three hours, like hiking Pikes Peak, I recommend you do the all-day parking by the restaurant for $5.

Of course, none of this applies if you do the railway as they have their own separate parking.

Incline is still as amazing as always! Even with the tourists. Enjoy.

My knees would maybe make it up, but never down. We used to hike to the top via Barr trail and take the cog down, back in the day.

You dont hike back down the incline. You cut back over to barr.

This is the first I have heard of this and I was just there a couple of days ago.

To make it more dramatic, parts of Ruxton are designated as resident only parking at all times. The parts that are pay spots have restrictions on when non residents can park there.

I meant down Barr trail, or any trail for that matter....unless aboard my MTB.

I remember as a kid taking a trolly ride up that, was a big tourist attraction back than to ride a steap trolly.

Thank you for sharing, Rey. Wow. Yeah, that will make it even crazier trying to find a parking spot, even if you're ok paying for it.
The bit of purple above 7 (parallel parking) is still public at this time, but that will change as of June 1 acc'd to a sign.
