Rider/passenger, or bike-to-bike? Looking to replace the Chatterbox intercom with something different (as it recently broke after only about 1-1/2 years). Probably gonna go with a set of Motorola Talkabouts with headsets in the helmet. That way me and my G/F aren't tied together by the wire, it can be a bike-to-bike also as long as they're on the same channel, and they can also be used as just a walky-talky when we're off the bike. Plus it'll probably end up cheaper. Me and a few buddies used to use a set of bike-2-bike communicators years ago and it worked great. Anyone?

Autocom without a doubt. we use it 2-up and bike to bike with Kenwood radios.

I plug in the cell and MP3. I use a motorola phone, so it auto answers while running down the road. mutes the MP3 when a call comes in, and mutes %50 when bike to bike happens.

Great set up. But if want the best, go with J&M. pricey but unbelievably clear sound.

Thanks dude! I thought the Motorola's would be a good idea.......until I realized that would be simplex communication (one-at-a-time) as opposed to the duplex I have now and want (2-way, like a phone).

My wife and I use an Autocom Rider-Passenger system on our FJR. It is of excellent quality; it is also expensive.

Autocom claims that their systems have the best (wind) noise cancellation technology available, that you can talk on their systems at 150+ mph. I've never been that fast on the FJR but I think it's probably true.

Although I have not used other systems, I would rate the Autocom system very high on quality and features.

I've got some that I would sell to you for fair price. They came out of Canada a few years back and look a bit like the chatterbox system, but are much more stoutly built, meeting military communications system standards.

I've not used them in some time, but they come with NIMH batteries and chargers, also a port in them for plugging in an MP3 if you wanted.

They come with the original box, manuals ETC

Let me know if you wnat ot have a look and I'll dig them out.

Has anyone used Starcom? Or heard anything about them? Just looking for the best system for the money without going way overboard.

Phloater, I have a chatterbox, you can just buy an attachment/cord for the passenger if you want to try it out..... Lemme know. I can let you "borrow" it for an extended amount of time if you want to try it out before making a purchase.

What about bike to bike comms? I noticed the chatterbox systems were $375 each. DAMN!! I need a set for the wife and myself but not for nearly $800.

D,
Check out Starcom. I'm trying to get more info but they are less obtrusive then chatterbox I think and perhaps cheaper.

See what you think.
