Alright well VB5 proved to be too spastic to use on an actual website, but we had to upgrade so we're here on VB4 instead. It'll still take care of the updates we need to complete from VB3, and give us a while to let VB5 get the kinks worked out.

Any posts or other changes made under the VB5 system are not carried over here; this database is an upgrade from the VB3 board, so about a week and a half of updates will be missing. On the plus side those won't be many, as most folks found VB5 unusable except to post about their gripes.

No guarantees this version is totally set up right for CSC yet, I have not gone through any of the settings to verify it yet.

This is much more reasonable. There are buttons and no error popups.

THANK YOU for the work and making this change to V4 instead of V5. I am surprised anyone has found V5 usable yet!

Seems MUCH better!

When I go from: http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/index.php it doesn't work. It also isn't working from www.cosportbikeclub.org

To get to the site I have to type: http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/index.php

Thank you Ralph, this is much better! I wonder what they were thinking with releasing vB5, it was nowhere near ready for prime time. Another forum I am active on migrated the whole thing to IP.Board rather than deal with vB5.

Both were great, one was like jumping from XP to windows 8, this is more of a XP to 7 jump...less of a shock.

That thing was a crash-o-matic. Totally screwed my ride weekend. I got a little job tutoring so I have at least spent the time in somewhat productive fashion.

Thanks Ralph! If you need any help in VB4 for design work or add-ons, let me know. I am well versed in editing the template variables. I could make a design on my current VB4 platform and send the design code to you for QA & implementation.

Fixed. At least that's how it felt to me.

Yikes.... Is Windows 8 really that bad, that it's being compared to that VB5 abomination that we just rolled back from?

I sure hope not for Microsoft's sake!

Ralph is clever. I think he knew all along he wanted to upgrade to VB4, but he knew everyone would bitch about it being different...so he upgraded for a bit to VB5, waited for the avalanche of, uh, "feedback", and then rolled back to VB4, which now everyone _loves_. :)

Windows 8 is different, and clearly conceived in a touch centric market. Vb5 seems to be slightly buggy and maybe released a bit early.

Thanks to Ralph for running this site.

Not to be a negative Nancy and certainly not trolling. I'm asking because I am geninunely ignorant.

What was wrong the old forum software? What are the benefits of switching to this new one?

Also, FWIW I like the current VB4 much better then VB5. I haven't been able to really use CSC for the last week or so... really since we switched software.

They were saying there were several security issues they could NOT fix with the old software without upgrading. Basically upgrade or die!

VB 3.x.x was a dying software. Considering it launched in 2004 and the last stable release was vb3.8 in 2011, it only makes sense to move forward. There are some great add-ons being created by the open source community that don't work at all on 3.x. Good move Ralph.

We upgraded, now it works, stop the bitching and start post whoring so now let's move forward amicably lol

Well that too, but VB3 is also based on PHP calls that were being deprecated with the next release of that. They had a beta patch to fix it and keep sites up, but they were discounting upgrade licenses for VB3 customers to just get them off of it so I took advantage.

Memory cache re-enabled, VB4 is actually pretty snappy but it should speed it up even more.

Did you purchase VBSEO? I was contemplating it but never pulled the trigger.

Have you played around with the style generator at all?
