MoCo 7am. KSU 7:30 Approx 300 miles rd trip from MoCo.
Warm up in foothills, then Guanella Pass, Loveland Pass, Vail Pass (barely counts but does!), then Hwy 24 to Leadville for Lunch. 91 back to 70 then Squaw Pass and back to MoCo. Supposed to be dry, but i always expect showers in the mtns. Was thinking bang out guanella early so less chance of doing dirt section in rain. Loveland might be good to do early in case of showers too. Route avoids tunnel traffic east of Idaho Springs.

"Spirited" pace... probably not very noob friendly.
3 riders so far: Summit82, Nolan & me.

That should be 6 passes actually : Guanella, Loveland, Freemont, Tennesee, Vail and Squaw.

You can easily make it 7 if you do Swan Mtn between Keystone and Frisco.

I've done that ride with the exception of Guanella (did Hoosier instead). I'd recommend an early start.

If you go Vail to Hwy 24 to Leadville that is Tennessee Pass. A map might help :D

I thought it might be more than 4! Google doesn't seem to show the pass names. Still can't beat a paper map!

Did Loveland vail and squaw yesterday. Squaw is a mess!! Lots of dirt riding there. It was slow, got stopped for about 15 minutes by the flag man to wait for our turn in the one lane. Just an FYI. I did it on my FJR and managed just fine.

Is it still just the area above the detour that's torn up, or does it go further up now? Is it clear past the ski area?

It goes almost to the top of the hill past the ski area, its off and on the whole way. I would recommend not going that way if you can avoid it. You will be delayed.

How bad is weekday traffic on 70 at the tunnel construction? Stop & go or just slow?

We blew right through it going up and missed it going down (we went over squaw pass and got stuck in the construction). I would guess there might be some slowing at rush hour.

May just run up west side of squaw and then back down - west side is more fun anyway. Then 70 to evergreen - I'm thinking most of the PM traffic will be westbound.

Those maps are awesome! I got 342 miles.
My plan to bypass fri afternoon 470 traffic failed... I ended up sitting at bridge construction on Santa Fe for 30 minutes, motor off, sweating!!
The more i think about it the more i wish we had gone back and at least scared the shit out of that kid. Better to regret something you HAVE done! Next time...

It confused me. Standing at a bus stop and flipping off the three of us? Did he want something?

Great riding yesterday!!! Loveland Pass was so much more fun than expected.

This was quite an achievement for the group... being the first time to invoke this kind of response from a pedestrian. Usually its only cagers and the occasional Harley who are polite enough to show the finger.
