View Full Version : Trying to Find a National Forest Shooting Range

Trying to scope some new "designated" shooting areas, but not having much luck. I know of the Harris Park clearing, and the one south of Pine, in addition to the one west of Lyons near Peak-to-Peak.

Any other relatively close spots that ya'll can recommend?

It is as long as you abide by their rules which they have posted usually at every opening. Often the same trails you can ride you can find good places to shoot.

I am thinking of hitting Pawnee Natnl. Grasslands next weekend. Any good spots anyone knows of? Looking for some 300yd+

Follow the directions for the North Site then just continue north on the road until you hit the ridge. Guys are out their a lot during our events

Not sure if this fits "relatively close", but check out Chaffee County Shooting Range (http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/psicc/recreation/otheractivities/recarea/?recid=34607&actid=106).

"The Chaffee County Shooting Range is a cooperative range between the CDOW and Chaffee County. Open to the public during daylight hours, Sunday through Saturday (7 days a week). No charge for use. Facilities: Rifle range with 8 covered shooting benches. Target placement available from 25 yards to 400+yards. Target stands available at 25 yds, 50 yds, 100 yds and 200 yds. Metal silhouette targets available out to 400+ yards."
