No, it's not faster just because I'm a slow rider. I went up to a launch this last weekend and it got me all excited to finish up some kits I've had sitting for the last 3 years.

Here's a collection of pictures from various High Power Rocketry (https://plus.google.com/photos/116057794108852613871/albums/5921083554288259873) launch events I've attended. I plan on actively flying again next year.

If anyone ever wants to watch a launch, they are open and you are welcome to spectate. Everyone is super friendly and happy to talk to you about the rockets.

When/Where is the next launch and where do you go to get a list of them?

They are generally held once a month conditions permitting. The Launch Schedule is on the left hand side of the NCR Website (http://ncrocketry.org/index.php)

The next planned launch is Oktoberfest which spans a Friday-Monday the 4th-7th of October. However, based on the very dry conditions last weekend unless we get a lot of rain it is likely this will be canceled. The next launch that will probably happen is early Nov. at the "Atlas" site as detailed on the website above.

I will post if Oktoberfest is a go, I will be attending for sure.

COOL, I always wanted to shoot one of those off.
How big is the motor on that? Like a J8?
Ever CATO?
(pretending to know what I'm talking about)

Something like that picture above is probably a large L motor. Estes (hobby) rockets are A-E, Mid-power is F&G and then things requiring certifications are H-Q. Each letter is a doubling of the impulse (power) range of the motor.

CATOs don't really happen because they don't explode, just burn really fast. However, failures do happen:

Damn my little one and myself would love this. Maybe the Oct one is a possibility since we are expected to get a lot of rain for the next week?

There will be a launch this weekend near Hartsel, CO

Tripoli-Colorado's "Fall Frenzy" launch is coming up this weekend! Join us at the Hartsel launch site for two days of rocketry fun, September 14 and 15. COSROCS will be joining us on Saturday. Both days will be Tripoli Research launches, but you can fly any motor up to your certification level.

If you plan to be there both days, you should consider camping with us at Round Mountain campground. It's only about 15 miles east of the launch site, just east of Wilkerson Pass. You may also camp at the store, which is only about 5 miles away.

See you there!

Here is a link to a map of the launch site (https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=39.009247,-105.702338&ie=UTF8&ll=39.009314,-105.702209&spn=0.202483,0.379372&z=12)
