I have an 05 636 and last summer my buddy put in water wetter mixed with water instead of antifreezer. Fast forward til last monday. I was going to ride to work and we've been having freezing temperatures. I ride to work and when I get to work I see my gauge temp say hi and see something leaking. I checked the hoses and they were frozen. So now my bike over heats to the point it says hi. I waited for it to melt and it still says the same and leakage coming from the clutch side. What do you guys think I did. I really never thought about it freezing til this happened. Sh*t I didnt even remember we had put that stuff in there. Whats leaking is that water wetter mixed with water. Any ideas ;( I know in cars if this happens the block can crack.

Since you are thinking new engine anyway, you may as well dig in and make sure its nothing that could be repairable. I've heard that some bikes have blowout shit for when it freezes solid, your might be one of those.

Yeah, I would run through it as well before just trashing it. It honestly could be that the water pump is the only thing thats messed up. That said, it could also have warped the head because of the overheat and cracked the block.

You might have gotten lucky though...

So, you almost certainly trashed the water pump.

Now what you need to do is see if there is water in your oil. If there is, and you've run it as much as you have, then I wouldn't tear into it too far, you're going to have a mess.

Usually when these engines freeze they push out the freeze plugs in the head. This causes the water to go where the oil should and the oil to mix with the water. If you run it too much in this condition you trash the crank bearings and are in a world of hurt.

Check your oil level. If it seems unusually high, well, you're done.

In the meantime get a space heater under your bike for a couple of hours and let that thing thaw out a bit.

there's a couple items that could freeze easily up there above the wp, little thin hose going to the radiator and the water temp sensor

I havent messed with it. Just bougth a new motor locally. I'll see if is trashed or not. If it is I'll just swap the motor over. I probably wont get to it this week. Busy with work. Ill report back though

Wait..... you just bought a new motor? Didn't bother seeing if it was something minor like the water pump?
