So heres my issue- I wifi transfer a clip to my ipad mini and the playback is perfect. When I transfer via usb to my macbookpro I just updated(well 10.6.8) the playback is choppy in preview and quicktime. I think it was doing the same on my wifes toshiba. any ideas or input? the res is set to 960-48 and Im currently importing to imovie to see how it plays back.

I'm new to the whole GoPro thing, but I'll give it my best.

They record it mp4 if I remember correctly. They don't view well, at all, in mp4, very choppy. I use GoPro Cinema to convert them, and once converted they play smoothly. Try converting them to a new format, let me know if that helps!

I guess do what Aaron says or ditch the Mac and go PC. Lol. Plays just fine in real player. Not that I watch much in real player. Normally just final cut after I'm done Vegas.

If you are using the direct file off the GoPro then it's your MacBook that can't keep up with the full-res file. My older Core 2 Duo desktop can't play back the full files either, basically your machine is too slow.

Also, if you only have 1GB of RAM you're Mac is serious limited. I have a stack of 2GB sticks I'll give you so you could have 4GB total if you want.

I think Generic is right. I think when I convert my files it probably degrades them in quality.

My office had a brand new computer, and it used to play the mp4's smoothly right off the GoPro. None of my laptops can, they're all pretty old though.

1GB is quite slow for a macbook pro, it must be pretty old

depending on the quality you recorded in, it may run choppy until you convert it. The gopro application makes it easy. then it should be fine

also get more ram or a new computer because, because
