I am in no way good at starting nor planning these kinds of things however we seem to look over this opportunity over and over again so anyone who wants to take over at anytime speak up please.

Date:
May 17, 2014 @ 9am, KSU 9:30

Meet Location:
Moco (Morrison Conoco) 16283 Morrison Rd, Morrison, CO 80465

http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?38272-Ride-Meet-Locations

I'll stick to the norm- (http://g.co/maps/ywwqn ) at 9am with groups of riders according to their various skill levels riding together. We meet somewhere for lunch and people can either choose to go home at that point or go for an additional ride with a group or on their own.

This is an official CSC ride so gear will be mandatory! We will need to adhere to ALL rules of the road and The Rules Of The CSC!

Proper gear includes:
1) A Helmet
2) A Jacket
3) Full length pants
4) Gloves
5) Boots/Shoes that cover your ankles

Please be Familiar with the below link.

http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/club/rules.html

If you want to be a leader or sweep post up, yes, experienced riders will need to ride with the slower or newer riders. And please be certain you can show up :-). I work better as a sweeper so I'll be taking the tail end of the slower/ newb group.

All groups will need to take the same route so we know where to look should someone not finish the ride.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Preferably constructive?

Newb / Slower Group:
1) Lead - bornwildnfree
2) Sweep - demonrider

Backup Sweep (if two groups are needed):
DiddysR6

Moderate / Intermediate Group:
1) Lead - Heater (????)
2) Sweep - Generic

Would love to join but already asked for Saturday the 10th off since it's the opening of the MRA season and I'll be doing super street most likely. If I ask for two Saturdays in a row my boss would have a heart attack ... have fun ladies and gents, always remember to ride your own ride.

Please also post up if you wanna head North / South. I liked the Northerly route but I know the Southerly folks need some attention ;-) ..... I will then work with some folks on a good route.

I like Sundays also but Tradition has me on this one as most folks work Monday-Friday and will need a day to recover!!! It's also almost 30 Days notice so I got a Vacation Day coming to me so I can enjoy some Riding with all my favorite CSC folks :-) ..

Also I noticed that this is same day/time as the Fay Myers open house with food and stunt riders so people that can't go to the ride might be able to go to that.

As far as me, count me in.

On a different note: Jrok77, do you know for sure if you'll be bringing the cruiser? Colleague of mine just got his first bike, a cruiser. I know he wouldn't want to join us if we were nothing but sport bikes, but if knows another cruiser will be there, he might.

Question: When a route is decided on, will you post directions on here before the 17th (A link to Google Maps perhaps)? I know we'll have sweepers, but it would be great to look / study the route in advance (at least I'd like too, since I'm new and not really familiar with where everyone rides). Thanks!

Yes we will post up the route and meet points. Just waiting to see if there are any other preferences as to route. So far the plan is Palmer lake Via 105 we just gotta keep it NewB Friendly for now even if everyone is experienced it's just a rub off the cob webs type ride and to get out and really meet new people. I know a lot of "Private" rides go on. So this will give people an opportunity to meet people they wanna ride with new or old :-)

I've been working a lot of Overtime and am continuing the 26 day straight through that weekend so if anyone can help with printing out a route that would really be helpful. I will assume Palmer Lake is good if no other suggestions by Friday Night :-)

I'm confused, Palmer Lake via 105 is only an hour and a pretty straight shot. Could we look at something a little longer and more involved? Even a quick run to Deckers would be good.

Was looking for something more involved but yes this was kinda the thought for NewB type but then as you pointed out, after the Official ride people can do what's comfortable for them but people that are new may wanna go back the same way. Myself and probably Bornwildnfree will go up with those folks unless nobody is truly a NewB and wanna take some Twisties but we will need to play that by ear .....As always; plans can change but this is intended for a NewB situation.

If we all wanna take Deckers, I'm okay with that . I'm also open for any plan as long as we keep NewB in mind :-)

Just my opinion...I agree with you. I think everyone is so eager for planned rides to be posted that people have forgotten what this ride is about. It is for the newbies, I myself am bringing a newer rider, he has been riding for years, but not a street bike and never with a group. This ride being a newbie ride is and will teach him about proper riding with groups and canyon riding.. Maybe not a actually lesson but he will take away from it and be ready to go on more challenging rides. We can then all take off different rides after lunch. Lets teach the newbies to this CSC the proper before they go on more advanced rides and not come out so good.

I might be in on this...always nice to meet fellow CSC'ers. since the first half is very newb friendly and being in the area, for those looking for more twisties on the way home hwy 24 isn't that much further leading to Woodland Park, Deckers and back to MOCO. That would probably be my way of going home!

Just checking in; I'm still planning on being there; I've been putting in some extra hours at work. The more the merrier, any volunteers in "Leading" the intermediate / first group? Looks like Newb group is covered, otherwise it will depend on how many show up. Hopefully this is the start for future Planners. But I need at least one more Lead and we will be golden. I did remove the "Advanced" group only due to lack of volunteers. However this can changed as we get a better idea of how many will show up. If not many then one large group. Also IF any of our senior CSC members can help me by doing the "Opening" speech it would be appreciated, I tend to pass out when speaking in front of a large group of people; in the mean time I will try to prepare something just in case although our Backup sweep might be needed. Thank You all for assisting and for speaking up. See You All On Saturday. .

Saturday has a good weather forecast with Sunday being slightly better. I'm planning on going out on Sunday on one of those privite rides with my Taos companions.

I won't be on this ride but it's safe to say I know every good road in this state :)

Deckers is fun, noob friendly but kind of a short ride. Someone mentioned riding 67 last the deckers store to woodland park and hwy 24. Just wondering but why? There is a 5 mile section of twisties about 3 or 4 miles past the store and then nothing for the 15 remaining miles to Woodland Park.

i would suggest going to Evergreen from MoCo and then taking the side roads to central city parkway. Go thru central city and take 119 to Nederland. From Nederland you have lunch options plus peak to peak and even highway.

peak to peak is 20 miles from Nederland and if you venture to hwy 7 it's another 14 miles to Lyons.

Be careful with 7 though if you are a noobie. It's in great shape and it's a very fun road but requires at least some experience. It was last years noob ride where some guy went off the road and into a boulder breaking both his legs, I think his back and was air lifted out.

peak to peak on the other hand is more noob friendly while offering thrill and excitement for experienced riders.

Some reading from last years ride for the newby noobs. Some good points and things for consideration are made in the thread. Read the downed riders accounting and learn from it. It's a perfect example of the wrong mindset.

Be safe, have fun, and as always ride your own ride. If people aren't willing to wait up for you at points they probably aren't worth riding with.

Any weather related anomalies not withstanding, I'm pretty committed to being there for this ride. I'm trying to rope my coworker (and reasonably newie rider) AdamAnnen (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/member.php?8231-AdamAnnen) into joining us. I would ask that you all to blow up his profile page with PMs and VMs, encouraging him to come along! :D

Adam Annen is actually a different Adam from "Smithy" who you're probably thinking of from Softball. Smithy did not replace his after the wreck and Adam's Kawi is new, but he's quickly racking up the miles! Send him a PM or VM!!

So, who crashed?

BlueDog
Sat May 17th, 2014, 02:21 PM
No one crashed that I saw.

My group that went to Deckers after Palmer all made it back to 285 safely and aside from 30 seconds of rain along Foxton Road the weather was beautiful and the roads were great. Everyone that got scared off by a few clouds missed out...

Deckers was great and Foxton road was a fun new way back.

I had slack in my chain (bought it old) and decided to fix it this morning.. Bad thing because there was a hard clicking every chain rotation. So I had to head back home and order a new chain/sprocket set

I wish that didn't happen :(. Glad all the new people seemed to have a good time though!

It's definitely there but nothing that will take you by surprise if you're being cautious. Plenty of fun fast turns with no sand.

That was a very enjoyable ride! It was my first time to Palmer Lake and the scenery getting there was absolutely gorgeous, tho can't say much for the "lake" itself :)

Big thanks to all the organizers, especially Christie, Ramon, Slo and Karen (forgive misspelled all of your names).

That was a snarky comment, I shouldn't have made it. Sorry.

Glad the ride went off without a hitch and all the more impressive with 30-ish bikes.

Thanks for putting everything together, it was great meeting some of you. I'm the guy who broke down at the very start so I apologize for keeping some of you behind and thanks to everyone who helped me out!

Ended up being nothing, just some radiator overflow from letting my bike run too long without moving. I tried to find everyone but didn't know the route. Hope to join next time!

Great ride and a great pace, if it wasnt chilly I would have gone on to Deckers, I have yet to take that back route through woodland park and up through Deckers but would like to do that run sometime (if anyone plans that again). Great people, met some new riders that worked well with me and overall had a great time. I headed back the way we came to Palmer lake and then jaunted over to Fay Myers, nice ride both directions.

I definitely look forward to a great season with a lot more rides! POST UP!

I'm up in Arvada if you want to go for a ride sometime

It was nice to see everybody come out for the ride, and I'm happy to hear that everything was mostly incident-free! I'm sorry that I didn't go A-to-B with the rest of the group, but once I got separated early, I decided to not try and play catch-up and just ended up doing some solo riding up into the hills.

The post-party at Fay was also a good time and I'm glad a lot of you ended up there to enjoy the freebies. I'm looking forward to the next group ride!

Well I appreciate you stopping to help me out. I'm definitely up for a ride sometime, I tend to be a weekend rider with my work schedule.
