View Full Version : New Members - Introduce yourself here! (NEW thread)

Since we have had a steady stream of new members joining the club, this thread will serve as a place for any new members to let us know who they are instead of having a ton of "Hi I'm new here" posts in the general forum.

Are you new? Let us know a bit about yourself if you want, or just give a shout out to the club.

Hey guys hows it going just saying high I noticed the introduce yourself thread was close. I have a 2012 cbr1000rr. Hope to make it out to an event sometime or maybe go do some riding. I need to get the chicken scratch off my new bike. I don't want to ride to hard until i get some slides, but hit me up if you want to do a cruise to some windy roads sometime. I don't know to many good rides here because I have only been here since august.

Old lurker, new poster here.

About me:
Been racing cars on an amateur level (autox, rallyx, scca, etc) since around '99 but a few years ago switched to bikes for my speed and wrenching fix. I tend to modify everything I own to hell and back or leave it bone stock. I am currently sellin my old ninja 500 I re-learned street-riding on years ago, and halfway though the build of my new bike. The new beast is based around an existing engine, frame and single-swinger, with lots of heterogeneous parts now being installed.

I have a small garage at my place and I can oft be found wrenching and cussing on various mechanical bits. Making music in the basement is also a hobby, and still haven't found anyone to jam with. And I still play way too many video games for a guy my age. I also brew beer, 4x4 my yota, shoot guns, hike, and other typical coloradoan stuff. My 2 roomies also ride, so it would be awesome to find/form a small group for mountain attacks.

Feel free to hit me up for just about any reason. I got some time on my hands this summer and hope ride more.

Also wanted to say thanks to all the people updating all the ride reports. That info has been invaluable planning rides in the past few years.

Hey everyone,
My name is Aaron, and I have lived in Colorado for about 13 years now. I have ridden some kind of a motorcycle on and off since 2002. I currently ride a 2006 Yamaha YZF600R. I want to work my way to a liter bike in a couple of years, but I need to learn on a 600 for now. I live in Parker, but work downtown. Thanks everyone for making this club and site so cool. I appreciate it. Thanks!!

Hey everybody,

Just joined the forum. Started riding two years ago and can't get enough of the thrill when hammering the throttle and hauling ass. Looking for new folks to go riding with. I'm usually in the foothills riding every weekend. My favorite short ride is Bear Creek Canyon Rd. Hope to meet up with you all at some point for a ride.

Hey everyone. I just moved to Colorado almost 2 months ago from Florida. I raced with CCS down there and I'm looking forward to getting involved with MRA as well as some street rides. I have gone on rides here by myself, but its not as fun as riding with a group. Not sure if you guys and / gals meet up to watch racing (MotoGP, WorldSBK, BSB, AMA, TT) , but that would be fun to be apart of too.

Hello all, my name is Jamie and i've lived in CO my whole life. Owned my CBR for about 5 years or so but no longer have any friends who ride so thought i might be able to find some people to meet up with by joining here. went on a solo ride last weekend up the canyons west of Golden, was a nice day. really though i either need to get better at leaning my bike over (retarded big chicken strips, sheesh) or sell it for a cruiser because there's no point in having a sportbike and riding it upright all the time, might as well get something comfy that doesn't hurt my back. anyway, that's me, i'll try to make it to the next n00b meetup.

Howdy everyone. I don't have a bike anymore but I'm hoping you'll forgive me that indiscretion :) I have a turbo Miata that I beat on up in the mountains, and with no forum specifically for canyon carving car owners here in CO I would respectfully ask that you folks grant me a provisional pass to join in an occasional ride (drive). I'm no flatbrimmed DoRiFtO noob out to asshat my way around the back roads with you all, and as a former rider I have plenty of respect for safety. Let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree and I'll GTFO.

PS - If the Milkman has not pissed too many of you off, he can vouch for me :D

Hi everyone, new to the site and Colorado. Moved here about a week ago, living in Centennial. I should soon have an R1 in my possession and plan to go and leave a deposit for the '15 R1. Been riding for about 11 years now, last bike was an S1000RR that I totaled a year ago, broke some bones and bought a CBR600RR after I healed up to keep busy on until I moved here. Did some track days in TX some years ago, plan to do the same all next year and then get into racing with the MRA after that. Look forward to meeting people here to ride with.

Hi all - my wife and I just moved to Boulder from the SF Bay Area a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to exploring the local roads (once they're clear again) and riding the local tracks, as well as making trips out to Miller Motorsports and Circuit of the Americas. We don't know anyone out here, so hopefully I'll meet some of you at club events soon.

EEk...I better get off my rear and properly introduce myself. Hi, I'm Jake from State Farm. Lame, I know...but at least you know I have a sense of humor; which is how I try to approach everything.

Obviously by my profile name you can guess my real first name. My beautiful wife and I moved to the greater Denver area (Parker) in July of last year. We absolutely love it here...although I wish we were a tad bit closer to the mountains. Since this is a riding forum/club I should touch on that; I've been riding motorcycles on the road for thirteen years (or thereabouts) and my current stable houses a '05 BMW K1200s (daily commuter when the weather permits) and a '13 Ducati 848 EVO Corse SE. Hopefully this year I will be able to get the Duc (aka 'Francesca') out to the track, something I failed to accomplish while living in CA (I know, right!?).

I love bikes (any/all makes and models) but those aren't my only mistresses/distractions (as my wife likes to point out LOL); I won't bore you with those details, which are better learned over a beer anyway. I'm looking forward to meeting up and connecting with many of you during the next few years that we're stationed here.

cheers!

So a little about myself, I'm 23, my name is Taylor and I just moved to Denver. Right off Evans and I25 actually. I picked up a 2004 zx6r with 5k miles for slightly over 3k, the other week. It is completely stock, other than a slip-on. This is my second bike and third year riding. I'm really looking forward to riding with, and getting to know everyone on the forum! Definitely have been craving some canyon riding, I'm really wanted to get rid of my chicken strips this season.

Another new member here! I've lived in Colorado my whole life, and currently reside in Littleton. I'm on my 3rd bike, I grew out of my first two. My current ride is an '07 Kawasaki Z1000.
After looking around the website I am pretty excited to see that people love to go on rides together! I'll be sure to post when I have some planned. I am always game to ride Deckers or Deer Creek, just HMU! My job is early morning, so I'm usually available all week in the afternoon. How active is the Facebook page for planning rides? I'm planning on going to Nationwide this Sunday if you, or anyone else wants to meet up!!

i did go on a nice little 100 mile ride today, had the bike serviced, and then somehow lost my keys to the bike. So depressing!!! So I'm having the lock smith come pull a cut from one of the locks, and make me some new keys Sunday morning. Pretty depressing I'm not going to be able to ride tomorrow or sunday.

If anyone has a way to get into the fuel tank without a key, I can ride. I can get it started without the key, just can't fuel it up without the key haha. So anyone have any suggestions?

No Yamahas? :wtf: paging spiderman
I finally put a new motor in Zippo (even tho, as it turns out, I didn't have to, but that's a whole other story  ), and, considering I hadn't ridden it in almost 2 years, I wanted to ride it in the parade!! (not to mention, despite being a 250, it also happens to be the loudest bike I own! ).

Somehow my bike's PO managed to strip the inside of the gas key lock. Literally I can open the gas tank with any key. Kind of lucky if that ever happens to me I guess.

I may or may not be going to nationwide. I'm headed up to hanging lake on sunday. It's like 3.5 hours from me lol that's a lot of driving.

Give this guy a call, he is a life saver when it comes to locks. Can't remember his name, but his company is Ayers front range lock and key. 303-466-1841
He can also make new smart keys for the Ducati's and MV Agusta's, Whatever. Great guy, great prices.

Hey Everyone,

I moved to Colorado 4 months ago and just purchased my first bike, a 2015 Yamaha Fz-09 last Saturday. I test road it when it had 1 mile on it, and right now it only has about 100 miles.

I moved here from Atlanta, GA. My riding experience comes from dirt biking when I was younger, and I have a bunch of friends in the Army that would hand me the keys to their bikes when they would go on training missions etc.. The two bikes I spend the most time with were a 2008 zx6r (monster edition) and a Harley sportster (1200 cc model)... I would say between those two bikes I logged about 2 - 3k miles. I definitely still see myself as a beginner rider, and ride my bike in fashion that suits my skill level.

In Georgia I had my permit for 5 years. (LOL) There weren't many restrictions in Georgia with a permit so I just never took the time to go take the test. After putting 100 miles on my bike I found out that it is illegal to ride with a permit not under the supervision of someone else that has their license... (annoying) I am going to take my road test today at 4:00 pm so I can get legal. I practiced some slow speed maneuvers last night and hope to pass the test with flying colors. (Going to be taking the test on their 125 cc bike so I don'y have to ride my bike up to the testing illegally.) Let me know if you have any tips!

Here are my two toys.... 2013 Subaru wrx (stage 2) and my 2015 Yamaha Fz09

Little update to my introduction...

I took the motorcycle test yesterday and passed with no deductions... Perfect score. Went to the DMV and now have a full motorcycle endorsement!

I also found out that Colorado passed a law that if you are caught riding your motorcycle with a permit w/o someone with a license over 21 they can impound your bike with a $2,500 impound fee!

At least I'm still riding AAAANNNNDDDD posting on this forum :p You got me there for sure......just taking a break....been riding 16+ years on sportbikes and saw a lot of wrecks that have messed me up and made me lose my confidence. I will get it back one day; plus my other hobby, fitness, pretty much takes up all my time. Really I need to just go strictly track nowadays, but nothing all that close and I have no pickup or trailer.

Also saving up for a new house too.....business over pleasure.

Honestly I just wanted to post that a girl was riding a pornstar....although now that I think of it guess that could be a guy pornstar too, but always assumed the GSXR was a girl. We all know you love Johnny Sims and got all his movies Sully (do not google him at work)

I hear you though and not sure what happened. After the site moved systems seemed like we lost over half our members. You remember the old days like me and this place had so many people posting and was normal too see 50+ on at one time.

And yeah even less girls, but now you and BornWF seem to be the only girls who still post.

Hey guys,

My name is Brandon. I rode with the club back in 2000, yes its been a loooong time. I had to give my hobby up due to financial reasons. But here I am 15 years later with the itch (again) and unfortunately older, but fortunately wiser ;).

Its great to see some familiar names here and also great to see how much the Colorado Sportbike Club has grown.

I do have an MSF course coming up here on Aug 10/11th, mostly to get my bearings and confidence back and to hopefully learn some new things. I've already got my new baby waiting for me. She's an 08 CBR1000RR with 7k miles, runs and looks beautiful. Starting over again certainly brings back memories of excitment yet nervousness.

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. When I rode with the club back in the day, I believe we only had the one meeting spot at the Starbucks on County Line Rd and Quebec (near Highlands Ranch). Now I see the club has grown into different metro areas...thats awesome! I'm currently living in Reunion (Commerce City), so hopefully I can find those of you in the area to do some rides with.

Cheers,

Brandon

@ Sully - I'm going through Full Throttle - they hold their class over off of 104th and Ura (basically 104th and I-25), near where the Mike Shaw Subaru dealership is.

Barn - thanks man. I think I remember riding with you a couple of times. You had an R1 back then didn't you?

<Snip...> Barn - thanks man. I think I remember riding with you a couple of times. You had an R1 back then didn't you?

I sure did; two actually. I had a 2000 R1 that I eventually put in the parts bin due to my failed stunting career, and then I had a 2004 R1 [Britney] that I couldn't keep a drivers license long enough for to enjoy. =)

Glad you're back... We'll catch upon a ride sometime soon hopefully.

How did your class go?

Hey Sully, the two day class was great! Even the weather wasn't too hot. The first day was a bit overcast with light showers, and the next day it was just overcast. We did have young guy go down on the first day unfortunately. Luckily for him he can retake the class at no additional expense.

It took no time at all getting reacquainted with riding. Thus far I've been out a little bit on the CBR just trying to get used to the bike. It'll take a short while for me to get my trust back in my own skills as well as that of the bike, so any, 'long distance', riding is out the question at present, at least for the next few weeks/month. There was a decreasing radius turn at the intersection of 96th and Highway 2 near my house, that about scared the bejesus outta me..lol. Its just gonna take some getting used to again, and then I'll start to venture further out. ;)
