This is my last weekend before I have my surgery and become very limited in activities.
Looking for a quiet, not well known place for lake canoeing and camping. Want to be secluded.

Any places would be helpful... Colorado or any nearby states

Willow Creek up by Granby is pretty cool. Secluded, no motor boats. Plenty big enough to wear yourself out in a canoe.

CAT!!!!!

Too bad you're having your surgery next weekend. We're headin' to the hills with the dirt bikes, or maybe it'll be a street bike trip. Either way, there will be camping and booze!!. You still got your dirt bike?

Search function works well on this site...but then how would Cat118! have anything to post on site. lol http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?51131-Tent-Camping-Spots&highlight=

Anyways me and the girl went to Sylvan Lake near Vail. Beautiful place, but was not that private as most spots are next to others, but lots of secluded places to hike to around there. They rent boats, canoes, paddle boats, there too.

EDIT: I remember now there were secluded camping spots, but those are the first to be reserved!

LOL I need something very specific... more than just tent camping. pppfffttt!
I don't want a place that you reserve. I prefer non-campgrounds... campgrounds..lol

I prefer non-campgrounds... campgrounds..lol Picky Cat like usual. hahaha Good luck then...those places are getting harder and harder to find and the ones that still exist, people don't tell others nowadays much in fear they get shut down too (especially on a public board). I had many sweet camping spots in past, but they all seem to be gone and closed down. To many people abused these places so what is left is it seems.

Sylvan lake is so beautiful though it sucks you won't consider it. Sheesh don't you get secluded private time at home with your guy. Nature is where it is at and hard to beat the views and fishing there.

Between squatters and people trashing the areas, they're ALL gone.

We just go to the Tiger Run Resort, now. It's expensive, but very nice!

We just go to the Tiger Run Resort, now. It's expensive, but very nice! Exactly! Ten years ago I had such sweet spots, even right off of south 285. Now they all have concrete barriers blocking it with huge signs saying you will be prosecuted! No bigger disappointment than having everything packed and you drive up there to see that and scramble last minute to find anything.

A few assholes mess it up for everyone! Sucks!

Nice, I'll look into Tiger Run Resort....I'd rather pay and have a good time than to be cheap and miserable somewhere.

Tiger Run is a bit on the snobby side. They've always treated us very well, but the place is full of million dollar 45' buses. Tents, pop-ups, truck campers and tent trailers are not allowed. Peak season for a standard site starts at $75/night and goes up to $100/night. They also have cabins...

I have a nice secluded spot I like to go to. It was first discovered in 1874 by the French. They named it Cherry Creek Reservoir, which in French means bodies hidden here.

Chatfield is nice on a holiday weekend...not! Are you saying a holiday like Memorial Day is going to be packed with people.....sarcasm......Cat better stop being so picky on a weekend like this.

Driving to work today I must have seen 5 trailers already heading up and many cars packed with camping gear.

Dean, yeah no trailer, but I'd be interested in checking out those cabins they rent....thanks!

I've actually camped at Cherry Creek Reservoir and I did not think it was that bad. I didn't have a spot by water, but it was still a good time and was nice to be able to get there/leave quick to get back home....plus nice to be able to get to King Soopers in a few minutes. Not true camping, but it ain't that bad....we had a fire and beer!

This did make me think of one of the CSC camping trips and how Frisco and Suki had no shame in their game needing a secluded spot...screams of "oh Allen" all night

Well, that's why they have something like 6 kids now. As for metro area camping, I think Bear Creek Lake Park is the best.
