650 twin times at HPR

Starting to consider racing next year and am just wondering what times the average racers are putting down on Ninja 650/SV650's at HPR. Looked on the MRA website, and even though I know what group the bike would race in I could not figure out what times were run on those bikes. Thanks

I don't think that's safe to say. Nothing has improved my riding more than racing. A spirit of competition, a drive to get better, a desire to get on the podium are all good things. There are lots of folks at the track running around well over 2:10 per lap, so don't use lap time as a sole determinant of if you should be racing or not.

I tell everyone I work with - work hard at being a GREAT rider. Great riders get fast, but it's rare that the folks that show up fast at first become great if they are solely focussed on being fast. "Hitting your marks" is a super important concept and something that we all can do better.

Like Scott said, don't let lap times or any other benchmarks determine whether you race. Not everyone out there is fast, but everyone is having a great time. Light weight bikes are a great way to get into the fray.

I'll be looking this winter (I hope) for a basic (cheap) setup. Either the 250s or probably stick with the SV since I'm starting to really learn my way around the bike.
