Dang, the GTR seems to have been hit. Anyone know how does that work to get it fixed? I am sure insurance does not cover it, so is there ever fault at a drag course or does everyone have to just deal with it and fix their own damage?

Just got to deal with it. That's the risk you take racing.

Just got to deal with it. That's the risk you take racing. Wow, but kind of figured. A $100K car couldn't be cheap to fix either.

Just seeing as it was not the GTR's fault I thought maybe some liability would go to the other guy, but I could see it being a risk.

That GTR is worth well over $100k lol, he's done a lot to that car, sure hope he can get her fixed up and back on the road

Matheo's got some serious money. IIRC this is one of several high performance, high dollar cars he has. But yeah, definitely sucks to fix. You can buy track insurance, but most people don't as this is a pretty rare occurrence.

That said, that's one fast freaking Mazda... Hope he gets it rebuilt too!

Thought I'd bump this with some new videos that have surfaced. The second one really shows how bad the impact was. Very unfortunate. That was a gorgeous GTR!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRaFNH0hkg4 Yeah much better angles for sure. Now you can really see how hard he hit that Mazda; then see the front end of GTR sagging.

Any idea what happened? Seems like Mazda was winning then just lost it and went sideways?

Yeah he just spun the tires. I wouldnt doubt if he was shifting when it happened either. Funny that he threw that helmet hahaha Id be so mad!

Hey he ran a 13 still. Not too shabby considering he was sideways at the time. Lol.

Yeah mazda broke traction. Poor gtr, that makes me cry.

I always thought if you have full coverage, insurance with most major companies will still cover it? But obviously immediately drop your ass too. Considering Matheo has over 1200whp, that RX-7 was hauling ass!!

Has to be a specialty. From what I have seen most use Bill Horton or Bill Lutz

Good to know, thx. I just faintly remembered a convo I had with my State Farm agent many years about before I took my car to Bandi. I better call my current provider!

For those who dont known you have to have TRACK coverage on the vehicle it aint cheap but when you wreck your 100k+ car it is, Matheo unfortunately did not have that coverage so this will all be out of pocket for him. Full coverage on a track means precisely DICK and they will not cover you.

Apparently the Mazda driver should not have been running with other cars as his setup was not dialed in correctly and it should have been a trial run only, negligence was taken on both sides, the track should have let him run alone but declined and made him run side with Matheo. The driver knowing the car wasn't ready should not have gone heavy with the understanding it could break loose on him and went for the win anyways resulting in this.

Needless to say Matheo is pretty pissed off and as far as the driver owning up to shit...well they didnt act responsibly and walked away like it wasn't there fault. Unfortunatly thats the name of the game if you go on a track its a risk, and you have to accept it.

yes it would blow ass to lose your pride and joy but theres no liability with the mazda racer. why would they act like its their fault? its a racing incident. shit happens. if you cant handle the destruction of your machine financially or emotionally then you better keep it in the garage and not put it in a race on the absolute limit of traction. if you can afford to modify an already expensive ass car to that level then im sure youll be okay. wasnt he also on goldrush rally? $15k entry cross country roadtrip

No no no. There is definitely fault on all sides. A glitter mess would appropriate for this.

Thanks Grim, good to know. I'll report back when I talk to my agent as well. This definitely sucks for Matheo, too bad. His car was suppose to be one of 3 or 4 of the heavy hitter GT-R's in Colorado.

~825 a few years ago at just under 30psi, DynoJet corrected though, with room to boost more. Once I get this (leaky) turbo rebuilt and a different housing looking at 900+ easily.

My state farm agent told me I'm not covered at the track.

But...

There is also the option of having your car trailered off the track, to the side of the road, then saying a deer jumped out infront of you..... jus saying....
