Nice, the H2R is drag bound, can't use 300hp at a circuit at all its splendor.

Found this really interesting, especially how the Veyron was catching the H2R and seemed to have a much higher top speed...

Seems the H2R has too much power - either picking up the front wheel too much, and then not geared for top speed. I don't really know what to think about it, but it seems like it's a lot of hype...

Well cars after some short time will have aerodynamic advantage, bikes will always decline on the top end due to that, acceleration wise we win errtime

Sandbag the H2R

That's what cars are now, nothing but technology driving and no true drivers anymore. Bikes are getting just like that as well slowly but surely

Looked for the exact quote, but couldn't find it. In response to a journalist asking about racing cars vs bikes, fast, etc, Aaron Yates once commented "Well, anyone can race a car, hell, my mom can drive a minivan fast."

Nice! The same can essentially be said about bikes too...

I don't know who to attribute it to, but I've always been fond of the quote: "Anyone can ride a fast bike, but not everybody can ride a bike fast."

Bingo! I'm wanting a classic bike more and more... Or something odd, like an Enfield Bullet. I like FI, not sure if I like all the rider's aids..

The top speed thing comes down to the horsepower absorption curve due to aerodynamics. The Veyron has a drag coefficient of .36, a really clean bike with an expert rider is around .60, so the effective frontal area is almost the same in terms of what you're pushing through the wind. Given that the car has 333% more horsepower, it makes sense that it has a significantly higher top speed, as well as better acceleration above about 100 mph(where aerodynamics become the highest horsepower drag factor).

What he said

Also, aerodynamic drag is a square curve(above about 50 mph), so it takes 4 times the horsepower to go twice as fast, and 9 times the horsepower to go 3 times as fast. To push an H2R to the Bugatti's 253 mph electronically limited top speed would require somewhere north of 500 horsepower.

And I'm sure some aerodynamic enhancements to be able to keep that thing down too

Probably. The Salt Flat guys do all kinds of thing to get the bikes lower to the ground(reducing frontal area)and make the bikes more aerodynamic. They try to avoid using spoilers and wings to create downforce though, because that increases drag. A lot of times, the limiting factor on a bike's top speed(assuming surplus horsepower) is traction. If it takes 200 horsepower to overcome the aerodynamic drag, and you have 400 horsepower available, but only have enough traction to put 195 to the ground, you're gonna get massive wheelspin, even at 200 mph.

My good friend and college roommate filmed these. He said the H2R was an incredible bike but that GTR was insane.

Those upgrade packages by Omega are some serious biz, this dude I met some years ago his name is Rick, had a 95 R33 GTR Vspec pushing around 500hp, beautiful car but then sold it and has a 13' I believe and that one is pushing around 1300hp. Those things stock are pretty impressive for the price tag for sure, got to drive an 09', 12' and 14' black edition when I was at Mike Ward.
