One thing they failed to mention that is all to common is the car versus bike reaction.

If you don't ride the bike often enough to drill countersteering into your subconscious, you more often than not turn into the obstacle rather than avoid it.
Hard to do but I make a habit of forcing myself to practice and drill it into my head everytime I get on the bike.
