As some of you know my wife and I recently adopted a puppy and we had no clue what kind it was. We decided to do a doggy DNA and got the results in, but thought it may be fun for people to guess before I post the results.

Has anyone else done dog DNA test?

Day 1 (6 weeks old):

Looks like the same snout my pit pup has. Pit mix? Either way beautiful pup. He/she has a beautiful brindle coat.

We initially adopted this dog based on it looking like a Pitbull and I hate how many get put down when they are great dogs.

Thumbs up to you man for adopting a Pitbull

No Pitbull in Leo, although as a puppy I swore he was one.

P.S.Post a pic of your pit puppy if you get a chance.

Brindle / Lab / Pitty would have been my guess. Super pretty doggie.

Brindle / Lab / Pitty would have been my guess. Super pretty doggie. Again, we thought labrador too....he even has the webbed feet most labs have for swimming. No lab in him either.....DNA tests are crazy.

I'd get a DNA tests done, but then I may find out I am not Spanish like I thought my entire life.....seems this has happen to quite a few people who swore they were one race and were not. I'd also love to see the person who swears they are fulll blooded [insert race] see that is nearly impossible nowadays.

Anyone heard of a Plott Hound (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plott_Hound)? Again, we swore he had this in him and pictures are identical and even met a lady who has bred them for 14+ years tell us he was a Plott Hound for sure...but no Plott Hound in him

The resemblance is so similar. Here are pics of a Plott Hound:

 I wish....those new Poodle mixes are all now considered "designer breeds" and go for like $2k....my buddy just bought one and apparently they do not shed and that is what makes them so great.

My friends family owns one of these dogs, named Whopper. I must say his coat is always nice and he doesn't shed at all. Plus his temperament is something like a lab on Valium.

Not sure but could have some boxer. Would have guessed some of the already eliminated breeds too. Good looking puppy either way.

Not sure what mine are mixed with. Fun to guess though.

You, sir are correct. Leo has a few breeds in him but boxer is one of the two main ones; I guessed all the above too before boxer. I see it in his body, but for sure he did not get the boxer head. DNA is wild like that and you just never know how things will end up in the end, so I agree it is fun to guess.

If interested this is the one we used off of Groupon (https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-dna-my-dog-breed-id-test-kit-1?p=1&utm_source=channel_pc_im&utm_medium=email&t_division=denver&user=63b64669c4c96a79456008d78341d6dffaba53ef4a708 dd1898dc6a89e875e0b&date=20170501&uu=5e435cf8-4123-11e4-ac12-0025906127f8&CID=US&tx=0&s=body&c=deal-merchant-name_1_&d=deal-page&utm_campaign=28006f90-3e7b-424c-a36e-374276c60558_0_20170501). They send you a kit and you take two swabs from inside the dog’s mouth and send it in; few weeks later they email you a certificate. Optional was to include a picture and what breed you thought the dog would be, but we left both blank to test if the one breed we knew (his mother) came up…it did.

If you want to guess some more, their website does this weekly with a different dog. http://dnamydog.com/

This week is to guess the breed of this guy ( I guessed and got it right the first time…wow) :

I don't handle suspense well. Well basically just one more breed to guess and then the others were very small percentage.
