It would be cool to see some old faces and even some new ones. It won't be a driving Ms Daisy pace but won't be a balls out ride or anything like that at least from my end, if you decide to take that chance and be a canyon Marquez, I will suggest you not to show up and go do your own thing, my days of hauling ass in the canyons are long over. Just want to have a good, mellow and fun ride, do some sight seeing, hang with some people, get some food and end the year on a good note. Everyone and anyone welcome, all types of bikes welcome, gear highly encouraged (it will be cold in the morning as well heading up the canyon) but you're all grown ups so that's on your best judgement whether to gear up or not granted I don't endorse not wearing proper gear. Ride your own ride as usual.

UPDATE: So let's shoot for Sunday, 9 am at MoCo with KSU at 9:30 for right now, I will update when I come home tomorrow after running the route. Route will be Morrison to Squaw pass to Blackhawk to p2p to Nederland to Lyons for lunch at Oskar Blues. Meet up information for southies below:

Let's do the Shell gas station, northwest corner of Woodmen and I25. We will be KSU from there at 8am sharp, so try and be there 0745 ish. The pace from Springs to MoCo will be courteous and with traffic, too much CSP presence to do stupid shit.

Should have said end of summer haha, yeah riding season never ends for some of us granted I don't ride as much as I'd like anymore but hard to go ride with all these idiots behind the wheel here, just takes most of my want to go ride out and go back to bed lol

I am definitely interested but I will only be able to go if some tentative plans for Sunday fall through. Saturdays are always out due to work

For those of you coming from the springs, what would be a good time to meet up? Thinking about hitting up squaw pass to Idaho springs and peak to peak and ending in Lyons, maybe even do the full loop back and go all the way to Deckers lol... it's going to be a nice day, might as well enjoy it lol. Thinking more on Sunday.

I have to run up north tomorrow after work and will drive through Lyons, Nederland, P2P and such back home tomorrow to scope the route out and see how the roads are looking after this past week since it was so cold. Stay tuned

Would everyone be okay departing from MoCo then to squaw pass to p2p to Nederland and then finish in Lyons for lunch at Oskar blues?

Aaron
Thu Sep 28th, 2017, 07:19 PM
That works for me! Just let us know when to meet at MoCo so I can add an hour to get from Springs!

madvlad
Thu Sep 28th, 2017, 07:28 PM
I'm thinking meet there by 9 am and KSU at 9:30. I will confirm 100% tomorrow once I scope out the route and see how the conditions are since some places in the mountains got snow.

Watching this thread; I would also be riding to MoCo from the Springs.
…possibly an early meet up somewhere in the Springs for the ride to Morrison?

I'll probably bail on Coal Creek. Not to be unsocial, working nights so can't play with the cool kids too late.

We're not even really expecting you'll show up at all to be honest. In fact I think most of us hope you bail on the way to MoCo.

Love you Nolan!

What the hell is this MoCo, and where is it?!?

Aaron
Fri Sep 29th, 2017, 11:54 AM
It's a gas station in Morrison. The most popular gas station for motorcyclists ev3r. Google seems to think it's a Conoco.

madvlad
Fri Sep 29th, 2017, 04:17 PM
Never too early for some ute... Route is clear, few usual slight dirty spots. Tons of cop activity though. Stopped by P2P to take a few shots and just chill for a minute and was talking to a Gilpin county sheriff and they said they'd be in high alert this weekend due to high volume of tourists so you've been warned lol.

Sadly took my RR's chain apart to replace it, forgetting Quikcycles is closed on weekends. I'll still be going, just on a R1200GS instead.

I bet Aaron won't even try to go to a different shop. It's ok. I can bring the wife's 250 and run sweep with him.

Aaron
Sat Sep 30th, 2017, 09:23 AM
Ohhh, an R1M? Ya I'm worried if I lost a cylinder it might actually be close.

You're right Nolan, I won't. I had a $100 gift card to Quikcycles. And you're going to bail anyways, so I won't hold my breath.

Guanella goes south from Georgetown and hits the 285 after like 24 miles. It's beautiful, but can't be taken really fast or anything, it's a narrow road, tight hairpins, no center line.

So getting reports of possible rain/snow mix in between 9 and 11 am in squaw pass so we may have to adjust the route in the morning based on if the weather holds in that area or not. See you all in the am!

We went to deckers given that storm took a turn and ended up dumping rain and snow at pretty much the whole route we wanted to do.
