I picked up a 2011 Heap Grand Cherokee Limited on my birthday (Wednesday). Hopefully I keep this longer than the ST. And yes, I kept the Subaru that I've had for the last 14 years. Driver and passenger windows were tinted today. Next up is the OEM hitch so it'll be the new tow vehicle for the race bike.

Actually, Kim had a Grand Cherokee. It's was pretty nice. Zero power, though. Her 2016 Escape EcoBoost kicks it's ass!!

They gained a lot of weight with the most recent (Circa 2011) redesign. A lot as in 1200-1800 lbs with zero powertrain updates. My Mom has a 2011 Overland (So fully loaded fat cow) with the biggest engine offered, 5.7 HEMI, and it struggles just lugging it's own bags of lard around. Her 2007 had a HEMI also, and it'd put bus lengths on this one.

The powertrain has been fairly reliable, had one pretty serious issue with the central control module, but that was fixed by recall after she dropped the car off for the 3rd time, and told them not to give it back until the module is replaced (They try something like 19 band-aid fixes before actually replacing the damn module).

The automatic air suspension system also fucked itself out of working, warranty took care of that. Memory mirrors/seats/radio stations are like dyslexic, they never go close to the set position after being moved. The front heated seats stopped working. I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember. It's a really nice and luxurious car, but without a warranty we'd have spent enough fixing it we could've gotten something reliable and able to go up hills.

Wow, that's some serious hating on the Grand Cherokee. My 2016 Summit with the Hemi is pretty great in every way. It's no SRT but it's no slouch either, it does just fine when I put my foot into it, which is pretty much all the time. A lot has changed since 2011, perhaps you should test drive a new 2018 Hemi and see if you still feel the same way.

I wish I couldn't say it, or that it wasn't true. She has owned NOTHING but Jeep's for the last 3 decades. A 87? Cherokee, 95 GC, 98 GC, 01 GC, 07 GC, and now the 11. She'll be due for a new one soon, but we can't decide, the 11 has really put a sore taste in our mouths.

And this is all excluding the fact that Jeep really fucked me over on a warranty issue on my 2010 SRT8. All of the chrome plastic trim peeled, spotted, and basically turned to gray, and they told me they don't warranty the cars to be driven in inclement weather, which is what caused the delamination of the chrome trim pieces, and that it was my fault for driving in snow. The Jeep had 36,000 miles.

I looked at the 18. The engine hasn't changed since 2011. Hell it really hasn't changed since 2003, it's gained 2-3 trans gears and 15 hp in 15 years. The body hasn't significantly changed since they added a couple thousand pounds in 2011, and the interior is about the same too. I love the luxury options, the ventilated seats, heated everything, air suspension, etc. But stabbing the throttle leaves an image on a Ninja 250 in my head. All that noise and it never seems to get down the front straight. Plus stabbing the throttle causes it to drink like a sailor, and it's got a lot of reliability issues.

Fwiw, I haven't had a single issue with mine in the 2 years I've owned it. Also, in case you didn't know, the next all new GC (5th gen) is currently slated for 2020.

Let's race! I'm sure my 17 year old Subaru 2.5RS can beat the Jeep too, but I have the R6 to go fast. :)

Oh, and I got the front windows tinted on Friday.
