Get paid to watch the races!
The MRA an opening for a raceday announcer to help coordinate race weekend activities via live on-track PA & FM transmission. This position pays $75/day with a per deim for a overnight hotel stay and lunch both days.
Requirements
Attend & broadcast information & advertisements at MRA Saturday & Sunday race events
There is typically one event every 3 or so weeks during the summer
The events are held at one of three racetracks in Colorado - HPR, PPIR, and Pueblo
Working hours are 9am through 5pm Sat & Sun with an hour lunch break.
You should have the basic ability to learn & understand operation of a sound board & maybe FM radio transmitter (which is pretty easy)
Ability to understand off-air communication with track personnel over handheld walkie-talkie & be able to clearly broadcast important information to racers & crew over PA system. (Some of this information can be time critical)
Ability to learn "domain specific" information about motorcycle roadracing
You'll need to broadcast announcements of upcoming races in a timely manner to the race participants
If there are track incidents, you'll need to understand what information needs to be broadcast to the participants & crowd.
During races, you will be asked to read sponsor advertisements over the air. The advertisements will be prepared for you in advance.
There are ample opportunities for ad-lib color commentary during the races. ("color" has to be PG rated! :))
Coordinate raceday opening ceremonies over the PA system (basically make sure a couple people are there)
On Sunday, be able to perform live interviews with Race of the Rockies finishers after the RoR race.
Optional activity
Wander around & interview racers during the raceday using a wireless microphone
Study racer progress & points standings to add in color commentary
Assist the Rider Rep for Publications with written articles which will be submitted to national motorcycle racing publications & social media
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would be a person interested motorcycle roadracing with an interest in broadcasting
Have a desire to do live broadcasting at an event
Ability to work with the MRA officials to understand and help coordinate a raceday schedule
