Yes, that is a nice looking bike. But can you really call a BMW a sport bike?

 I would say the conclusion from everyone except Mista Black is "yes" :D

o BMW doesn't officially make a 'sport' bike.
o You'll never know your speed unless you use a GPS.
o I'm a noob on this bike.
o I don't race on the street. Too dangerous.
o Jap bikes rock. Had 'em before.

What qualifies something as a 'sport' bike? HP? These have ~167. Speed? It will top out about 177 & does 0-60 in 2.8 sec. Handles well on twisties. What is it missing? I'll be at the noob ride today. See you there?

I think they're cool. The only BMW bike I'd ever own, and that's saying something. I rode a GS once and hated it, and Doug's S model once and it was pretty cool, but those twins just aren't for me.

Most certainly the only Beemer I'd own. It holds its own. No one out of 40 bikes on the ride today ran away from me. It's just a little heavy and sometimes scary to turn. They have conquered some of the shaft-loss problem in the final drive. There's a funny torque feel if you get on it in a turn. Overall I'm happy with it. Build quality is first rate. Has a 300 mile range. Came with some pretty good stock features.

There's a nice marketing video here:
