So does anyone no what the stock horse power is in Denver on 2004 r6 or 2005. Has anyone dynod one and if so what did you get for Hp. What do you think the Horse power would be if you had a turbo on the R6. A pic of my Bike 2004 r6 at Bonneville http://www.bike410.com

Take the stock horsepower off the Yamaha site and plug it into this calculator...Late

Stock at the wheel hee in CO is usually around 98-102 rwhp..... Give or take a couple depending on when the last motor refresh was and such.....

Turbo??? Umm dont Busa get like 260 so Im guessing far less than that on a 600

Horsepower numbers are always corrected to sea level, so you can compare numbers to anyone in the country. 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, etc. will be affected by the altitude (and subsequent actual HP number). I don't remember what the percentage is, but I believe there is a formula out there to calculate the loss due to lack of oxygen caused by elevation.

Call TK, they should be able to give you more precise HP numbers, and be able to answer any questions you have. 720-904-9040. Tell em Spiderman told you to call. 8)

There was another thread recently on HP loss at altitude http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8180
Basically, you lose roughly 3% of your power per 1000ft gained in altitude. A turbo will make up for some on that loss, however on a stock framed sport bike, you will have problems using that power...when the turbo spools, it will give a jolt of power which can cause the bike to very easily pull the front wheel fast enough that you will flip it over. Also, if it spools while you are in a turn, it can also cause the rear end to slide out and lowside (or highside depending on how you react).
*edit: just realized that you mentioned Bonneville in your first post...guess if that is the type of all our riding you do, then you might like a turbo. There aren't too many places (if any) for that here in Colorado, it is much better known for amazing canyon rides (which are NOT enjoyable with a turbo).

at 10,000ft you loose 35% to 45% of your horsepower

Ok well last week. I put down 172 hp on the dynod. With 8 psi of turbo boost. The Dynod was at Faster Motosports one of the offical club sponsors.
Special thanks to Jason, nick and all the people at faster motosports. Thanks for the great mapping tune.

Off to bonneville slat flats oct. 10 to race it.
Well now I would like to ask how fast do you think it will go.
Remember that Bonneville salt flats is wide out about 3mil on the short course and 5mil on the long course.

World Finals (http://www.scta-bni.org/Bonneville/World%20Finals/WORLD%20FINALS%202006%20entry%20form.pdf) should just be the long course. Must go faster then 155 to get the record in my class. http://landracing.com (http://landracing.com) for more info. I'll be happy if i go over 175mph with my r6 turboed :)

Travis,

My guess is that a nearly stock R6 would do 155. I have an FZR400 that does about 130 on 60 HP, so you should easily see the 175 you're looking for.

At the pueblo track this spring Jason Pridmore did 175 on the front straight (way less than 5 miles!) on a 1000cc superbike that is probably in the same HP range as your R6, so I'm guessing you'll see about 180.

Post up and let us know how it turns out.

My old R6 oh6 (non-s) was dyno'd at Grand Prix at 105 hp - top speed 165 easily. I bet you can get better HP at sea level. Still a bunch of fun at any altitude and it was fast as hell. :)

It was exactly like this bike -- down to the ohlins stablizer :)

105hp got you to 165? Not in Colorado it didn't, that's a 145mph bike at this altitude.

Turbochargers help at altitude, they'll cut your power loss due to altitude in half.

For anyone thinking they're going to hit above 150 mph with 105 HP you will have a rude awakening. Its alot different when you are actually trying to run those number vs. just trying to estimate them from dyno pulls. Just like the proud Busa owners out there (which included me) thinking they can go run 200 mph with a stock Busa, not even close. Most people dont realize how much air your are pushing when going over 140mph and it drastically increases every mile per hour that you go faster.

Sorry to tell you man but i did a 156mph and had a records at that speed for 4 days. I broke a 10 year old record in 2000. with my 1999 r6 at bonneville slat flats. That bike didnt even have 100hp it had 98hp. The record now for a production 650cc is held by in r6 at 165.994 in 2004. Ive seen people with stock Busa running 198mph out at Bonneville. all day long. Bonneville slat flat racing is way diffident then street or drag racing.
Your more then wecome to come race your Busa out at bonnevile and try to go for a record with it. Your looking at speed of 247mph and up if you want a record with it. I do realize how much air is going by in at 182mph I have no body on the bike its naked. People dont realize what it takes to race out at Bonneville slat flats and break a record. Then Hold it or them from getting broking. All record there are made to be broking. I know i have 4 records with an r6 out there and i have helped get 8 records more with a race car out there.

Uh, yeah ok. I was referencing Colorado not Bonneville salt flats as its at lower elevation than colorado so you are making alot more HP there. #1 Stock Busas are restricted to run 180 mph from the factory and the ECU will not let them run past that. #2 If you over ride the ECU and de-restrict the stock Busa it still is not capable of running over 190mph with the stock gearing. Can a Busa run 200 mph at Bonneville, yes but not in "stock" form. As far as setting records on a Hayabusa, 247mph is not even close. Modified Hayabusas have been setting records well above 300 mph. Bill Warner broke the last record of 311 mph back in 2011 and sure thats been broken since. Pretty sure most people are aware that Bonneville racing is different than drag racing including myself. You've got some high HP why dont you post up copies of your Dyno pulls and time slips from Bonneville. I am at the track every weekend running times and there are 2-3 guys testing and tunning their bikes there every wed. for Bonneville and the Bubs speed runs. Two of them have stock busas and have run Bonneville the last 3 yrs and come nowhere near running 198 at Bonneville. You are more than welcome to come to the track to prove me wrong. I will be there this Wed.

Bonneville a 1000 feet lower then here not that much gain on lower evevation. Bill Warner did not do a two way run for a Record. He did not do that at bonneville too. He just got a time slip. I do belive he is not in a record at bonneville. Just got a time slip over 300. not at bonneville.
its not in a record book that i know of. I know for sure that a Busas has not been over 300mph at bonneville and I dont even think over 275mph. I know the restricted on the thing. They work round that. gearing can be changed from stock. Ive seen 198mph with them out there. Ive talked with the people that run them out there. yeah The stock production p-p Record is now at 211.5526 Set by a stock Busa set 2009.
I did post a time slip its linked on this post. and dyno videos.. I take it you Didn't read all of the posting here.. here a link to a time slip from SCTA

Ive been going to Bonneville for 28 years now. Been racing a bike out there for 10 years now. Bike has 4 records.
