Had to do a little edit to my post, too much info... for now. :-)

What do you think about the A-star Supertech boot and Sidi Vertebrate Race (carbon tid-bits one)? Also, what about the AGV ProRacer? They've got the Sidi Vertebrate Race for $209, instead of the normal $320. But for about the same price, I can get the A-star Supertech boot. Or I can go a bit cheaper and get the top of the line AGV ProRacer.

The A-star looks a bit silly, but has that cool inner boot. The Sidi has the cool replaceable pieces, carbon bits and that neat chrome ankle pivot brace thing. The AGV just looks nice, and cheaper by about $75.

Oh yeah, I also put in the SMX Plus as an option

I would go with the Sidi. I have the "Flex Force" motocross boots and have grown to love the brand. Quality footwear period.

You see?! The Sidi even look kick ass! I bet they are very comfortable for a race boot, too.

I said smx-plus cuz I have a pair. Picked'em up brand new for $100 cuz they're red :D There is no doubt the Sidi race is a way better boot though. I've tried them on and they're sweet. If they are the same price I'd go with the Sidi's in a heart beat, but the SMX-plus boots are not that bad. They feel comfortable, have a good fit, and they do have replaceable parts.

Totally forgot about those. But I can get the Sidi's easily like now if I needed, and the other options, well I can get through another source.

I've had the Sidi Vert1 boots for years, and LOVE them. But, that's because they fit my foot perfectly. Best thing to do is (if there's a place around here that carries all these brands) to go try them all on, and figure out which fit best. But again, my vote is for the Sidi Race boot, especially for $209!!!

You also forgot about Daytona boots. Pricey, but with a Kevlar inner boot, the best protection out there. Best thing is, you can replace just the outer leather portion after a tumble, without having to buy the Kevlar all over again.

Racers who have had broken feet tend to wear them (Glenn #157, Brian #38 )

daytona........ which one is that again? I know the name, but forgot the brand. As for sidi, I'm stuck with only the race in my size and price I mentioned. As for AGV and A-star, I can get them all.

I've had the Sidi Air Carbon Vertebrae and love the fit. Tried the A* SMX-Plus and the fit was as good if not better. The SMX-plus is more rigid side to side than my vertebrae so I bought a pair on eBay for the track and will use the Air Vertebrae for street riding. I tried the Race Vertebrae on at Performance and the fit was not as good as the non-race vertebrae :? . Strange as they look like they are the same except the race has the added hinge for more side to side rigidity. It felt looser on my foot than the Air Carbon did. Tried two different boots in the same size to make sure it wasn't that pair only that fit loose. Also tried the A* Supertech but the rear entry was a little wierd. Reminded me of the rear entry Scott Ski boot.

The A* SMX-Plus I bought was in the Max Biaggi color. The fact it has MAX all over the toe in gray didn't show in the pictures :x but the price was right so I may duct tape over it...

Actually, only one certain model has "max" on it. I looked at that too. Sucks how only one color of each Astar boot model is vented really well BUT they're always some Fugly color!

So what was ur decision in my choices???? I like the Sidi easy to replace parts and looks, but the Astar Supertech is different from what everyone else is using, maybe for a reason like it's a bad boot maybe but I wouldn't mind having somethign different. I get my tax returns back, soooooo i'm only pressed about the sidi getting sold before I get it, IF I choose the sidi.

yea, the model with MAX on it is the Max Biaggi color of the SMX-Plus. I thouight it was Red/white only. Did not see it had his name on the red in gray. My pick of your choices was the A* SMX-Plus. Reason for me was...
Fit, Lateral support, Price. :D The inner boot with the lacing really make it feel like a well fit boot as compared to the SIDI... IMHO

I've decided to go with the Sidi Race and pay the extra crappy taxes to get it, so $209 + tax. The Supertech, something I was REALLY interested in, with the help of bestfriend at home, convinced me that the Supertech is just TOO rubbery looking. And I convinced myself that the red/black Astar wasn't for me since it had that horrible white red fade, and TOO much red. The black was too black, needing some red, just a touch. The side is just right and seems to have a KILLER rep, plus the chrome will match the silver in my V4 Astar jacket. So Sidi Race it is. Now the final decisions, gloves and what color Astar "Track" pants, red or black? Red seems to have too much red. I'll leave this for another post and poll. Thanks yall!

Actually, I'm gonna have to reconsider possibly. I'll let you know when someone gets back to me about them. So I might have to choose between the supertech and the smx-plus. damn.

OK well here it is. They're sized 12. I'm 10.5/45. They were marked 10 us @ the sole inside the boot, and I realized the inside calf part was marked size 47, I was too purchase happy and didn't even read the box. 12/47. Well I'm a 10.5/45 SOOOOOO if anyone is a 12/47 and wants them, sidi race vertebrate in red like the pics, they're only $209 + tax @ rocky mountain cycle plaza in colorado springs. The last and only pair of sidi race. You can even call them and put it on ur credit card. I'm gonna have to decide between the supertech and smx-plus now. The supertech will probably fit better since I have about 18+" calves.
