well it may not be real old , but my favorite (and i wish i had one ) a 72 h2 kawi 750 triple 2 cycle. man at sea lavel that bike was crazy shit....mine was bored out 60 over rejetted to burn alc. and had wheely bars.. it was the most un rideable bike i have ever been on , but it sure was fast. 0 to 125 faster than i have ever been in my life, one scary ride .. i ran from many of the boys on that bike. i read somewhere that that bike killed more guys than any other.
on one sunny sunday morning i almost got my turn.. soon after i sold it to a guy that was about 5'5" and i think he killed himself on it about 6 months later.
funny part was i told him i would not sell it to him... he literally through a fit in my front driveway so i sold it to him... r.i.p.
he was warned.
sure wish i could get my hands on one that is cherry. i hear they are still drag racing them in texas.

btw what to hell is fly boy doing in here ... you aint old... and neither is your gay ass bike...lol

I love the old Interceptors. I bought a 500 new in '84 and I still have it (it's the one in the background of the image below, torn apart for restoration over the winter). I have an '85 VF1000R and I just got an '07 Interceptor in the red/white/blue paint scheme.

Oh man am I jealous of your new '07 viffer! I went to Fay Myers on Saturday and drooled on their floor model a bit. It would be sooo perfect in my garage side by side with my '84. Congrats on that. Ride nice?

Well, I got it the Saturday after Christmas and because of all this %$#% snow, I've only been able to put ~50 miles on it but it's a pretty sweet ride. It'll be good for a daily ride and longer trips. The VTEC is going to take some time to get used to though. To me, one of the great appeals of the Honda V-4s is that smooth, strong powerband all the way up to redline. The VTEC on this one kicks in at about 6500 RPM and I really notice it. I'm sure after a while I'll get used to it but it does annoy me a little at this point. It sounds sweet though. And when the VTEC kicks in, it goes from a growl to a snarl. When it comes to raw performance and canyon carving, my '05 750 Gixxer absolutely rocks but the Interceptors are better around town and for longer trips. And they sound so much nicer IMO. Never have really grooved on the pissed-off-bumblebee sound of the IL4s.

I'm with you there...at least until I actually try a hotter bike, I suppose!

Hey you don't know anything about the top end oil mods available for old VF bikes do you? I'm real tempted to do one given all the noise mine makes when it's cold and/or at idle for awhile.

I haven't done one. The 500s didn't suffer from the same cam oiling problems as the 750s and 1000s. Jamie Daugherty is a great resource for these mods and all sorts of other things on these bikes like wheel and suspension mods:

I vote for the RZ350, which was just a nutsack shrivelng fast machine.

Rode a couple but never owned one. However I made a habit of owning the two stroke street bikes like the Suzuki GT series from the 1970's.

My first bike was a GT380 and over a few years I owned 3 of them. I also had a short lived 550, and a Kawasaki 750 two stroker....Death machines.

My last 380 had drag bars, home made rear sets, a milled head, 550 carbs, and i ripped out the oil pump and just premixed it like a dirt bike. That thing screamed light to light (but barely broke 100mph on top) and sounded like a popcorn machine at red lights.

Still, back in 1987, it was faster light to light than the Hurricanes of the day.

My truly favorite old bike is my 1969 Harley XLH900 chopper. Magneto ignition, all of 5 wires on the whole bike, kickstart only, turn of the century technology but it ALWAYS starts.

One of the first street bikes I rode was an RD400 that my roommate had. That thing scared the shiite out of me the first time I opened it up. I had been riding dirt bikes for a while (e.g. RM 125) so I sorta knew about 2-stroke powerbands but that thing was an eye opener.

I had a friend that raced an RZ350 at the Louden (NH) track back before it was tore down to make room for the redneck (NASCAR) track. So I got to ride his race prepped machine. It was insanity. I have a pic of that bike next to a Ninja 600R (this was back in the 80s) that he simply spanked all over that track.

My GT's were billed as touring bikes. When I got one of my 380 versions, it was hunter safety orange and had hard fiberglass saddlebags on it. It was horrendous. But I made it cool with some love and sweat.
My 1972 380 even had a digital gear indicator. Had to be novel in the early 70's when a digital clock was a novelty.

They were also my introduction to tearing bikes apart and modifying them. I destroyed a couple from my tinkering, but always found another for a couple hundred bucks. I even turned on a friend to motorcycling with a GT250 two cylinder.

To keep the FOG board alive...............
I've been coming on here periodically looking for a 1976 YZx 125 and finally found one right here in Colorado even with the original owners manual. This was the early years that Yamaha first started switching over from the dual shocks to the new Monoshock technology and it was the last year Yamaha made the YZ with a aluminum tank.

Back in the day when I was much younger and in better shape I rode this bike to a 2nd place motocross finish, sponsored by Rink-A-Dinks Yamaha (RAD) in Lakewood. Believe it or not in 1976 this was the top of the line race bike, with its 7.6 inches of travel and engine increased to a whopping 20.18 horse power. I'm sure most of you dont remember these bikes and those that do probably think its a piece of junk compared to todays bikes but I think its kinda cool but I'm also the guy that when everyone had cassette players in their cars I still had 8 tracks.

If anyone knows where I might find a right side number plate, front number plate and seat cover please let me know. Also if anyone has any old dirt bike magazines with the bike, I would love to buy them or just make copies.

Thanks for any help.

here is a picture of my 76 Vintage motorcrosser that I finally found.
